I have read on various threads that if one person in the group is a SoCal resident, that all in the group can use the tickets. Is this correct?

So, if my son is moving to Orange County in January, and we go visit him in the Spring, could I use these tickets?

Does Costco sell them at this price all the time, or is this a special thing?

I have a similar question b/c they're selling these at our Costco here in NorCal...why? I'm not in the zip codes that qualify...what am I missing?

bumping up, hoping everyone is back from BlackFriday shopping and may have some answers for us. :goodvibes

Well, not sure if I can give the best answer but I'll tell you what I know. This question is asked frequently and there does seem to be a lot of confusion as to what the official rule is. Even the CMs seem to be confused since we've had reports of people getting different answers. There are usually a lot of people responding to this type of question who say they had no problem using the passes and that they were told it was fine as long as one person in their group was a socal resident. Others chime in and say that it's breaking the rules because it's only for socal residents and they report that DLR is being more strict about checking IDs. Hope that helps a little.

usschmidt, I have no idea what the deal is with them being sold up north. :confused3 That's really strange if the deal is only for socal zip codes. I'm assuming it must be a mistake.

Usually you only have to produce one ID for the allowed number of tickets purchased. I think on this offer, you can buy up to eight tickets. I'd call to make sure, but I know of people who have used the Costco tickets and weren't from this area. They went with friends who were. That's usually how it works with these kinds of deals.

Hey, I started that thread :yay:. Good thing I saw this because I have a new tale to tell, and I'll go ahead and update it on that thread as well.

I was just there on Nov. 15th & 16th, 3 members of our party used the Costco 4 day hopper tickets (2 adults and 1 child). We once again purchased the passes at the Santa Clarita Costco and had no issues there. Should you run into issues at Costco, just try your luck with a different cashier - if all else fails try a different Costco.

We did not have any issues on either day, while entering or park hopping. This family will be returning with us later in the year, only two of their days were used. Anyway, they were not asked for ID on either day (nor at Costco). At their own free will and prior to entering the park on the first day, my relatives decided to sign the back of each of their passes I guess to make them seem more official or pass as if they had already presented their ID at some point in time. Even with the signatures present, they were never asked to show ID for comparison.

It is scary using those passes when not a So. Cal resident, but the price of full admission is even scarier  :scared1:. I imagine there's lots of tourists who don't understand the policy properly and do purchase those passes, so I think the most that would happen is that the CM would explain the rules and kindly ask that they upgrade to proper passes.

I do have a feeling CMs will be cracking down on the policy very soon, but for now it is more than likely that you will not be asked to show ID - however the probability is still 50-50. And yes, I too have heard directly from a ticket booth CM that as long as one member in your group is So. Cal and has ID, any non So. Cal resident with them can use So. Cal offers.

Which I don't get at all because no way is that So. Cal resident shelling out the bucks for the tickets, of course they are being reimbursed so that money is still coming from us non-residents Disney :headache:!

The offer I found is to order the tickets on-line, and the price included shipping. Not sure how they would know if a soCal resident was going to be using them or not. Couldn't anyone buy them as a gift for a soCal resident?

I didn't mean you had to show ID when using the tickets, only when purchasing. Sorry for the confusion. But it looks like someone else was able to purchase without showing ID. But my friends didn't have to show ID at all at the park.

I honestly am not sure I would risk it only because of the constant worry of the (what-if's). I would be worried of being caught by that certain CM who makes sure to check, and the being turned away, and told I would need to go repurchase the proper tickets. You're then out double the money. Sorry JMO better safe than sorry.

We have been 6 times in the last 6 weeks. And 4 times we have seen a CM ask for ID. They asked for everyone over 18 to show ID. So not sure if they are finally cracking down or just that these CM's were tough. But you certainly do not want to risk running into one of the CM's who will be certain to check!
