Costco executive membership reward

The terms state that executive member purchases made directly from Costco Travel will earn a 2% reward. Say I book a cruise for $3k and put $1k down on Disney then transfer to Costco. Will the purchase still earn the 2% reward? I'm curious if it earns on the $3k (minus taxes), on $2k paid through Costco, or nothing since it wasn't booked directly through them.

It’s on the whole booking amount as long as it’s transferred to Costco within the 30 days. Confirmed on these forums and with Costco Travel.

Not quite. The benefit applies only to the direct cruise fare. It does not include port Fees, taxes, prepaid gratuities, or transfers. However, since the vast majority of what you’re paying is the cruise fare, that does amount to almost the whole booking.

You’re absolutely right, but to be fair, my answer was phrased in the context of the question. OP seemed to already be aware of the nuance you’re providing:

Still useful I suppose for others stumbling on the thread. I just happened to have the exact same concern (if I needed to transfer first before the deposit). It was already quite clear from the terms that taxes and fees were excluded:

Excludes taxes, fees, surcharges, gratuities, trip protection, and portions of travel purchased through a third party such as activities, tours, baggage fees, upgrades, rental car equipment, resort charges, port charges, resort and cruise line fees and similar extras.

But not so much on whether it mattered who the payment went through.
