I tried to call Costco to book this am but got a message they don’t open for 2 more hours. That doesn’t sound right on an opening day
Anyone else get that?

Yep - they are not open until 7:00 a.m. Pacific. Due to Covid hours, they are not opening early to accommodate the DCL cruise opening day bookings like they have in the past.

Book the cruise yourself online and then call Costco to transfer to them. That is what I did last opening day. The process is very easy and simple to move the cruise to them.

As long as you don't have a placeholder, this is definitely the way to go. And even if you do, if it is a cruise that will sell out (e.g., Hawaii), you should book it yourself online and transfer it to Costco as it's better to have a reservation on the Hawaii cruise without the 10% OBB than to have no reservation at all!

I assume I am stuck waiting until 10am ET for Costco Travel to open if I have an existing cruise in 2021 with OBB already booked, that I want to now move to a 2022 cruise. Is that correct?

Thanks!

Yes. You have to wait until Costco opens at 7am PT/10am ET. And FWIW, I got through this morning to Costco right when they opened but I am still waiting on hold (agent is on hold with Disney) 2+ hours later. It must be everyone booking Hawaii!

Wanted to give an update for those planning to use Costco on Gold or Silver day. I called the minute Costco opened and went straight to an agent. After a few questions about the cruise I wanted, she put me on hold to contact Disney. I just finished my reservation, which took a little more than 3 hours total. Lots of hold time with Disney today!

@FigmentSpark I called this morning at 8:00 a.m. ET and Costco was not open. The recording said they opened at 7:00 a.m. Pacific, which is when I called back.
ajo are you in the US or Canada? Thanks for your help with the quotes BTW!!

The problem I had is that Costco holds my two placeholders and when I called to book I waited for about half an hour and the agent told me she could no longer hold, that I would need to leave it and someone would book it and get back to me within 24 to 48 hours. I just got a call back that it is now booked however the cabin I wanted to book is now gone.
I will never book another placeholder and assign it to Costco. I could have done this myself at DCL online open this morning and most likely had my preferred cabin. Live and learn.

Just to clarify... placeholders must be booked over the phone - so that isn't unique to Costco. If you have a placeholder and assigned it to a "dummy cruise" then you might be been able to modify it online yourself. Sometimes I've been able to modify dates, other times it doesn't work and I've had to call.

I'm in Canada. I guess they are different, although I was told that the Canadian TAs just use the Seattle office for booking DCL anyway, so I don't know why they are different.

Thank you for this.
