OK - I am planning a November or December trip to the world and I am trying to consider all of the cost trade offs for the various options we are considering. This is not a "splurge" trip by any means, but I am trying to consider VALUE for the dollar as much as COST. That being said, here is a list of the options we are considering and the cost trade off's that I have identified so far. I would love your input and advice if I have left anything out!
RENTING DVC POINTS -
Pro - Deluxe "plus" resort (less mouskeeping) for the price of a moderate, can take advantage of ticket broker pricing, free internet
Cons - No chance of photopass discounts, No chance of free dining, No chance of any nice new bundled package or gift card, plus the whole "trust" factor, Can't change to pkg once booked
PACKAGE DEAL
Pro - Can take advantage of any "bundles" or free dining option that may be offered, photopass discount possible, one stop shop
Cons - Who knows what if any bundles may be offered for our week, paid internet
A LA CART - ROOM ONLY
Pros - Known room savings, can take advantage of ticket broker pricing (Can change to a package deal if a good deal comes up and if tickets have not been ordered)
Cons - Free dining not even an option, no photopass discount, no additional savings that may occur from bundled pkg., paid internet
For our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) I have figured the actual cost of the savings options as follows:
Free Dining - worth about $750 to my family
PhotoPass Preorder Savings - $50
Ticket Broker - $100 - $135 savings
Internet $10 / day (number of days unknown - probably 3 or 4)
Room - Can't really determine $ of DVC as there is no comparison, approx $400 with a 25% room discount at a moderate resort with room only res
Does that about sum up the tradeoffs? Anyone have anything to add or any thing else I should consider?
Thanks!
