I bought 2 adult/2 kids 6-day Base Tickets last October before the price increase from Undercover tourist. If I want to upgrade to hoppers, I am trying to find out what the cost will be. I know I can only upgrade them in person once we get there since I didn't buy from Disney. I called Disney and they couldn't give me an exact cost, but said they would take the current gate price of the ticket I have and I would pay the difference in the cost that day plus the cost of the hopper, minus what I paid for my tickets already. My question is, what are they considering the price I paid for my ticket? Disney's site price today? They wouldn't know the price I paid at Undercover tourist, right?

Not sure how I can get a clear/close estimate before our trip next month.

I too am in the same boat as we need to add a day and possibly PH to our base tickets. I looked at MDE for the cost, but I don't think it takes price bridging into account.

Thank you! If I have calculated correctly, it would cost us $589 more to upgrade at the gate. If I bought the hopper tickets today from undercover tourist, it would only cost me $231 more. Wondering if it is worth trying to sell these tickets to friends who want to go before they expire and buy new for ourselves. Our trip is late Oct, so I would lose my FPs, but I think we'd like hoppers more. What else should I worry about if I go that route?

Something doesn't seem right.
(A major factor is that listing a "gross amount" for upgrading a bunch of tickets is very difficult to follow.)
I can only really follow an upgrade discussion about ONE ticket.
(Then, you can multiply by the number of tickets that you have.)

Please list the exact kind of ticket (just one of them) that you HAVE NOW,
the date you bought it, and when it is due to expire.
Then, list the exact kind of ticket to which you want to upgrade.

Maybe we can figure something out.

Ok. One adult ticket I bought on October 15, 2018 for $404. It’s a 6 day base ticket. It expires 12/31/2019. I would like 6 day hoppers. I have 4 tickets total now - 2 adults and 2 kids. The kids tickets cost $377.73 each and were bought at the same time with same expiration.

Cost To Upgrade Tickets To FP

Very old tickets need a one time treatment to enable them to be linked into your My Disney Experience account and allow fastpass plus to be booked against them. There should be no charge for this to happen. Sometimes this treatment can be accomplished over the phone. The tickets do not (should not) suddenly change into TPT tickets (post 2016 theme park tickets with date based pricing and expiration).

The current rule (subject to change; see, also, the Ticket Sticky thread) is that unused Magic Your Way tickets (standard post-2004 pre-2017 tickets) purchased from Undercover Tourist and other authorized agents are bridged to the maximum price that those tickets ever sold for at the Disney ticket booths which is ca. December 2016 (a few years earlier for non-expiring tickets). They may then be optionally be traded in towards gate price TPT tickets for such purposes as obtaining more days or water park fun and you pay the difference in price. Unused expired TPT tickets from authorized agents are bridged to gate price as of the day they expired. Partially used non-expiring MYW tickets may need the special treatment for MDE (MDX) but may not be upgraded. Generally it is not desirable to trade in non-expiring tickets because the only tickets you can trade them in towards are not non-expiring. Also for many usage plans and patterns, it is cheaper to hang on to the NE tickets and buy new TPT tickets.

From the Ticket Sticky. Post #6-
Ticket bought from an Authorized Reseller/Discounter:

Ticket bought as part of a WDW Resort Package:
-or-
Ticket bought at a Disney Store:

C __ Created BETWEEN Feb.11,2018 & Oct.16,2018. (Early 2018) Price list HERE.

C __________
Find the full Disney price for the kind of ticket that you HAVE on the early 2018 Price list HERE.
Subtract that early 2018 price from the current full Disney price for the kind of ticket that you WANT on the current late 2018 Price list HERE.
Pay that difference price for the upgrade.

$536.82 (w/tax) 6 day Hopper adult ticket value (Current WDW Price, Oct. 28 start)
-431.33 (w/tax) 6 day Base adult ticket value (Early 2018)
$105.49 (w/tax) cost to upgrade one of your tickets to 6 day Hopper adult ticket.

Is that the number you calculated?

I'm pretty confident you've done something wrong with figuring out how much the UT tickets are. I can't imagine that the difference in price between a pre-increase base and a post-increase hopper is less than $60 a ticket. Not even taking a price increase into account, the difference between a hopper and a base should be in the $75 range give or take. Without looking at the actual numbers myself, Robo's numbers sound exactly right (and it's Robo so why would I doubt it!) About $80 per ticket to upgrade to a hopper, a little bit more to take into account the price increase, and tax.

Thank you both very much! No, I didn't quite get those numbers, but I was also very confused about it, so am quite confident I did something wrong, also! I will trust your numbers and go with it. Thank you so much for the information and helping. I just wanted to have an idea of how much to budget when we get there. Doesn't need to be exact...just knowing $75-$100ish a person is good enough for me!
