Cost to replace AC in house

1800 sqf ranch, air only as our heat is hot water boiler that is completely separate from AC.. What's a quality unit roughly going to cost?

For the main outside condensing unit it will cost you, in most areas, around $3500. That what ours cost last summer to replace one that went out. The bad thing is, the one that went out was barely 5 years old and the warranty was no longer valid on it after 5 years.

We have a 2 story house 1,850 sq. ft. with 2 units (1 for upstairs & 1 for downstairs.) Our upstairs went out & we had it replaced about 2 mos. ago. We paid $6400 for the one unit. And we even used most of our existing duct work. I'm sure our other unit will probably have to be replaced next year but we couldn't afford both at the same time.

Oh-I just re-read your post. That was for gas heat & electric A/C unit though.

Just had an estimate as ours is on borrowed time - $3800-$4200.

My son just bought a house a few months ago - turned air on a little more than a week ago and not working - had to be replaced. Two-story, a little over 2000 sq. feet - I am not sure if he said $3,200 or $3,500.

we had ours replaced last summer in a 4000 sq ft home, 2 units with the hypoallergenic filters (optional) and it ran about 14,000 for everything.
