I didn't want to hijack the other thread!:cutie:

We are taking my in-laws with us again in April. We swore we would never do this again, but alas, its difficult to tell grandparents no. My FIL is 72, has early stages of Alzheimers and has energy issues. He spends a great deal of his time sleeping. MIL is a little younger and more robust energy wise but has difficulty walking for reasons she will not disclose to any of us:sad2:. We chose Candy Cane Inn because of the shuttle, but I'm thinking a scooter or two will make the trip so much more enjoyable for both of them. They will be able to spend more time and cover more ground in the parks than would otherwise be possible. We probably won't utilize handicap entrances, but park the scooters and get in line as we normally would. Does this sound like a good idea? How much are we looking at cost wise for three days? Do we rent from DL or an offsite company? New territory for us on this one! Thanks

If you're going to rent scooters, I'd strongly recommend you get them offsite. This way you'll be able to take them between parks, into DTD, and they could scoot back to the room if the shuttle is delayed.

I have my own scooter now, but have rented from OC Medical, Deckerts, and Scootaround. If I remember it correctly, it was around $150/week. I'm sure someone else has more updated prices.

Have fun!

In park rentals are $55 a day and you cannot take it out of the esplanade area--so PP is right that you should rent off-site. It is usually around $40 a day (and can be negotiated).

The only concern I have is that you mentioned FIL has Alzheimers--scooters can be tricky to maneuver--is he capable of doing so? I know when my Dad had Alzheimers I would not have wanted him driving one because of the fear that he would injure himself or others.

We used deckerts in feb 4 days at 150$ it was waiting at the hotel and we left it there for them to pick up when we checked out :goodvibes

Just Called OC Medical Supply. They quoted me $45.00 per day and it would be a Pride ECV. Anyone know about this company or that brand ECV? I appreciate your help.

I just reserved one from Deckert's for our April trip. They are dropping it off at my hotel on a Thursday morning and picking it up on Monday morning. Total cost $150. The man I spoke to was super helpful and friendly!

Pride is a very well-known scooter company. I have rented from both OC Medical Supply and Deckert's and most times have not had issues; when I have they are generally very quick to fix any issues.

However, I would try seeing if they could beat that price--$45 a day seems high to me.

I rented from Deckert's in December and it was waiting at the VGC on Sunday and we just left it at the bell desk on Thursday when we left. It was $140 and they were super friendly!

Yes, it seemed high to me also. I will give Deckerts a call tomorrow, too late today. Thank you for the information. :goodvibes

Hello..
I was just wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing the price quotes that you received? Thanks.

bump.. just curious on pricing info
Also, has anyone heard of Scooter Village?

Sorry, haven't been on the DIS for a day or two. :)

Deckerts quoted me the following for an ECV:

$40.00 per day 1-3 days
$150.00 for 5 days
$175.00 for 7 days

The girl I talked to was ALL business, no personality or additional info, just the facts and do you want to order or not! I think I might call back and see if they give any discounts for AAA or Disabled Vets.

O.C. Medical supply was $45.00 per day, the man I talked to did not offer any package prices such as Deckerts did. I did ask both if they gave a discount for renting two ECV's. No they don't.

I just got off the phone with Deckert's. Spoke to Diego, very nice man, he sounded young, cute, and was friendly :) He went over the whole order with me for two ECV's.

Price for 5 days is $140.00 each for 5 days. They gave a AAA discount of $10.00. So that comes to $28.00 per day. Really a nice price. Diego explained where they will have the ECV's waiting for us at GC and what all to expect regarding being fully charged and such. It was a very pleasent conversation. I have a reservation :goodvibes Hope this helps!

We also spoke with Diego for our Dec rental and were very happy with his customer service and the product. Glad you called back cuz the first person did not sound very helpful.
