just wanted to let everyone know this if you have not heard, I just got off the phone with my guide and he told me that the cost of point will go up to $101 per point on July 1st. All I can say is wow!

To a certain extent Disney needs to keep the resale points high so that they do not cut into their current sales as much. It will be interesting when Disney starts to lower the resale price on the older resorts.

I think the $101 per point is for SSRS

the move to $95 per point on July 1,2006
is for DVC Sold out resorts/Beach club, Boardwalk,Villas at wilderness lodge,etc

this was announced in march,2006

My daughter just bought into SSR. She bought 150 pts at 101.00 per point. But they paid her to bank the first year's points, so she will be getting 300 points in December.

Was this a small add on? I finally gave up on finding a small add on for my use year, June, for 50 points at OKW. I finally paid Disney $92 a point. At least I didn't have any closing costs.

Yes, it was for 70 points. I think once I factored in closing costs & 1/2 year maintenance it worked out to be just under $86.00 per point. We were non-members & couldn't afford to pay for 150 points out right, 70 points works perfectly for us.

I wonder why SSR is so expensive. It really is just an ok resort. A bit too big for my tastes but still nice. You would think a resort that huge would be cheaper! More room to go around. I am happy I bought in at $84 a point. Man, that $60 a point would have been golden!!

SSR is good through 2054, whereas the sold out resorts are good through 2042.
Disney is probably charging extra since they are good for 12 more years.

We are planning to join DVC, but keep going back and forth between SSR (12 extra years) and BWV/BCV (location). So far, it looks like the 12 extra years will win out for us.

It won't be quite that high. The more desired resorts will still be in the mid 90's like I've been seeing (BCV, being the first one). SSR resales are pretty cheap though (assuming they pass ROFR) at low 80s.

The current price is $92 per point. I spoke to my guide yesterday and waitlisted for points at BCV. Does Disney buy back contracts too?
