Cost of up-grade upon check-in

Who has paid for an up-grade upon check-in? How much were you charged?

Our first trip to Wilderness Lodge we had booked a Woods View. Upon check in I asked if we could get a room where we could see the fireworks. The CM did some checking and he said he could give us Concierge Level for $200.00 more. We were staying 8 nights, so $25.00 a night extra for Concierge, I couldn't pass it up. It was a great experience.

It all depends if the rate that you purchased is still in existence when you check in. For example, if you purchased an AP rate, and the AP rate expired, then you would be charged whatever rate is currently in effect, and pay the difference. Unless you can get an upgrade for free from a really nice CM.

How often does something like that happen? I was thinking we'd ask at the desk how much an upgrade is and if it's not too much we'd take it. Is it usually full rack rate?

We had booked Standard at ASMu with a request for a ground-floor Jazz Inn room as my mother had recently had surgery. Upon check-in, we were given a free upgrade to Calypso without even asking, though most likely for medical reasons.

It was during regular season two years ago. The end of June.

In May 2003 we upgraded from a WL woods view room to a concierge room for $45 extra per night. At that price it was more than worth it.
