Hi there! Someone had suggested that I look at the laughingplace.com website to get some things ahead of time. (thanks for the suggestion :wave2: ). I dashed right over to check it out and was SHOCKED at the prices.

Now, I am a realist and I know that things are never cheap in the parks but is it typical for a key chain to cost $16 and a mug to be $20?? They had starter pin sets for like $46 and magents for $13. Cell phone holders for $27 and tote bags for $46???????? :earseek: I am in shock! Like I said, I KNOW that the gift shops in the park are a rip off but I couldnt believe the prices of some of these items!!!!! Is this website high priced or am I looking at "specialty" type items?

Or, should I just bring a LOT more money than I originally anticipated?????

The tote bag price sounds right. The other stuff sounds way high, but I never looked at that stuff to buy there so I don't know what the prices are. I bought a disney sun hat and it was 25.00. Just a canvas hat with WaltDisneyWorld embroidered on it. The cheapest tshirt I saw was 25.00.

I've read that the prices are inflated on there; I'm sure they must be, to reflect for their time & expense of shopping, and for them to make a profit.

At the parks we have gotten key chains for $5-$6, mugs for $8-$10, magnets for $3-$5. I have a really nice t-shirt I got for $20. Not sure of the other stuff you mention because I have not bought. Last trip DS got a stuffed 14" Mr. Incredible that talks when you press his hand and it was only $14, not unreasonable at all.

With 5 kids to buy for and many trips to Disney, I have come up with a rule that has worked out well for us. You have your choice, if we make it to Down Town Disney, you may buy one or two things, depending on the price. If we don't make it to DTD, you may shop on your way out on the last night. I usually limit them to $20.00 each unless they have saved some of their own money then I add my $20.00 to it. I have bought some wonderful stuff at Disneydirect.com and have gotten free shipping. They have their own personalized blanket (throw) with different characters and their names for $9.00 each that they keep in the camper. I have also gotten Lizzie Maguire athletic jackets for $16.00 for each of the girls so you may want to try that site. Good luck!

I like to hit the gift shops on the outside of disney. We go past DTD and go to the shops right on the outside of disney property they have much better prices. We do stay onsite & spend plenty of money at the parks. We drive so for us it is not a problem. This year I want to also shop at the disney outlets that I keep reading so much about.

Yeah Laughing place is high. I would only suggest buying there if u have a
must have b4 u leave for your trip. Sometimes there are good deals at Ebay

Oh my laughingplace is a joke. Way too high. you no doubt can get things cheaper at the parks. Sometimes even Ebay. Just be careful of the sellers who will cheat you with the shipping. Some really take advantage of that. I have won a lot of things and got a decent price.

I bought Disney T-shirts 9.99 for kids, and 11.99 for adults at Disney Direct and I got them very quickly too. Gifts of a lifetime website (disney shopper section) had prices for stuff way cheaper than laughing place and I will be ordering a few things this week from there. Just wanted to let ya know.:)

The prices on those WDW buyer places are quite inflated. :rotfl: I even doubt if they even have much of the items actually instock.

I have no clue where my kids get it from :rolleyes1, but they tend to look for the official WDW label/tag/imprint on their gifts. Disney store and other stuff is OK, but just not the same... call them Disney snobs if you must :earboy2:

My kids have a "disney bank" into which goes all our spare change (minus quarters). When full it's worth a good $150. That's the money they have to split for whatever they wish to buy at the parks.
