When and if you get accepted into the Colege Program do you have to pay your school or Disney anything to participate?

All I paid to the college was the tuition for the credits I got for the class. Then all there was is the gas it took to get there, and then rent every week, which they take out. Besides the living expenses. Have fun!

There is also a $75 assessment fee. I have no idea what they do with it, but it is required.

Another thing is books you have to buy if you take any of the Disney classes. :)

question-if you do the CP so you have to live in their housing? what if you live on your own? (i am a mom of 2)would they still take out the money for rent? thanks!

No, they do tell you that you have the option of finding housing on your own. How much hassle and paperwork it is to actually get them to do it, I dunno. But they say it's do-able, and only in a situation like yours (with kids) would I even condone it. Disney's apartments are very nice (if a bit strict on the rules) and they subsidize it, so it's much, much cheaper than anything else comparable in Orlando.

It goes towards the events they have at the complexes for the residents.

Pics of the housing events are on the official site.

I've been lurking here for some time, but just started posting- I can't post links yet.

Go to wdwcollegeprogram.com
Click on "CP Connection" (3rd big white link box in the menu underneath the "Presentation Schedule")
Click on "Photos"

Where did you discover this? It seems to me that $150,000 ($75 x 2000) is a bit much to host a few bingo games and a basketball tourney and a talent show and whatever else they do.

I'm not positive but it could be for maintenance of the buildings we stay in, etc. Just a thought.

Processing fee, just like any other program or housing fee or what have you.

It's within the Housing FAQ's in the Student section of the site.

What is the non-refundable Program Assessment & Activities Fee, and when is it due?
The non-refundable Program Assessment & Activities Fee is a $75 fee applied to all students who participate in the Disney College Program. The non-refundable fee helps support the events and activities scheduled in the housing complexes throughout the program.

I don't know if you've worked with planning/scheduling large events and activities, but I've done this with school. Your estimation is about right on track for the cost of these things (food is expensive). Even more so if a portion of the fee goes towards the cleaning and repairing of the apartments after each program like others mentioned.
