posted this before I think but Im new to this and not sure I did it right...LOL

Going to Disney the first week of febuary and staying 10 days. Will be me and my 4 year old(she will be turning 4 when there). Im trying to get an idea of how much I need to budget for meals. Im a single mom and full time student so savings is deff. an issue, but I also want her to have a memorable birthday.

forgot to say we will be doing 2 charecter dinings for breakfast. Cinderellas Royal Table and the Crystal Palace. Are those good choices?

I have done both of those character meals and both are great. They however, are both very expensive. If you can afford to do them, great, if not she will still have a magical time. The castle is very special but the most expensive!

Budget depends so much on how much you are willing to do to save money. Would you be ok with a cereal bar and juice in the room or do you need a full meal?

One suggestion is to share meals with your child. There is more than enough food in just about any menu item for a small child to share unless you are a really big eater. This goes for snacks too.

Carry a few kid friendly snacks, drink water instead of soda and if you are staying off site maybe do a few fastfood meals off site. Food court meals on site are huge and plenty to share!

ditto the PP that suggested sharing meals - we do this all of the time!

If you're budgeting I would skip the castle and do Akershus in Norway - basically the same princesses different location. Castle is cool but really IMO not worth that much money!

Check out the menus online in advance and decide where you all would like to eat there are a zillion great CS places to eat.

did you check to see if free dining is being offered for the period of time you will be going? we have always gone during free dining and it has saved so much $$$$.

Cinderella's breakfast is going to run you about $75. Crystal Palace breakfast, about $55. We haven't eaten at the Castle, but the breakfast at CP is really good. I'm sure your daughter will love both.

Check out the menu pricing here: http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm

You'll be able to get an estimate of what you will need for meal money. Kids' meals are always around the $5 mark, adult meals vary. I'd guess that each counter-service meal will cost you about $15-18, total. Less if you drink water instead of Coke, or split meals with your daughter.

Hope you have a really wonderful time!

We've found the counter service kid meals to be not-so-great (and that was 10 years ago!). When dd was around that age, we'd just split counter service meals. By the end of the trip, I'd get a little tired of only eating to her preferences, but it was worth it.

Go to allears.net and look at the menus to get an idea of what's available and how much it costs. From that, you can decide how to best tackle meals. Where are you staying? Onsite? If you're at a value or moderate, they have fabulous food courts. If you're going in February, they do have free dining going then. You might want to check in to that.

Of the character meals you've picked, they are the best ones for that age. While Askerhaus in Epcot is a better price, there is nothing like the magic of a 4 year old seeing the princesses in the castle!
