what's the best site to get this cost. I tried AAA and they show it almost twice as much as gas buddy.:confused3 From Rehoboth, de

Its fairly easy to calculate this yourself. Just find out how far it is round trip (google maps can help there) then divide that by the Miles per Gallon you car gets in highway driving. With that info, multiply the number of gallons by about $2.10 right now as an average cost per gallon of gas over all the states you'll be driving through.

The only other cost should be any tolls you hit in Delaware. I don't think you'll encounter any other tolls along the way.

Ditto this. I always figure it out myself because I know our road trip vehicle and what type of mileage it actually gets on the highway. One other thing I do it go high on my estimated cost of gas. It's an easy way to make sure my vacation budget has a little wiggle room.

Same here, we get our Triptik from AAA, 2100 miles round trip...divide by 30 MPG equals 70 gallons of gas....average cost of gas 2.10 X 70 = 147.00 for gas round trip plus maybe 20.00 tolls...

Between the drop in gas prices and that I bought a new car 3 months ago that gives me 35-38 mpg I'm loving how inexpensive my trips have been lately.I'm about 240 miles away and $35 got me to Orlando and back this past weekend.I even stopped taking the turnpike several years ago so instead of $40+ in tolls round trip I only hit 2 $1 tolls,so total roundtrip from Miami under $40 gas and tolls.Time to start planning a long road trip to Cedar Point this summer like I used to do 7-8 years ago.

Some people calculate the cost to include mileage and wear and tear on the car. I used to work with a guy that would rent a vehicle for long road trips so they didn't put miles on their own car.

We live in Houston. It cost us $86 to drive to WDW last February and July. This March it will be even less with the falling gas prices. Of course, we drive a Prius....:cool1:

Should be no more than 3 tanks of gas each way. Thats what it took me from that area when I used to drive from MA. Stop in NJ near the end of the turnpike, one in NC around Roanoke Rapids, one in SC around Waltersboro and one in Daytona. That was with a pickup that got around 21MPG. If your car does better than that, you will probably only need 2 tanks each way.

From Durham, NC now, I can do it in my full size 4x4 pickup in 2 tanks.

My brother-in-law just drove down yesterday from Wilkes-Barre, PA and he spent about $120. The Hess Station near the MK was $2.05/gallon today.

I used gas buddy in December and it was really accurate. I know many people just self-calculate, but I like to see what the current gas prices are in places that I would likely stop anyway.
