DME does not go from the hotel to the cruise ship. DME is only a trip from MCO to WDW or from WDW to MCO. You may be talking about Disney Cruise Line transfers.......

If you are talking about the DCL bus from your resort to Port, I believe it is $35/adult for one way. Not sure if there is a child rate.

It is $35 per PERSON each way. We did the cruise recently with 4 adults and 2 children. It would've cost us $420, so we rented a car and parked it. You can also rent a car and drop off and then pick up a new one on your return.

And a car service will run you about $200ish r/t.

OT: The aforementioned Disney Cruise Line bus transportation predated and was the prototype for Magical Express. The same $35. per person charge now applies to trips between the seaport and Orlando International Airport; guests on combination sea-land vacations use the same DME procedures and buses for the airport to Disney leg of their vacations.

Note: Occasionally buses with DCL markings do the DME trips. DCL transportation includes the Swan and Dolphin so you will occasionally see a DME bus pull in there.

OP I would rent a car and drive to the ship. It is a very very easy drive over to the port. Its pretty much a straight shot from Disney to the port.

We always rent a car from Budget and drop the car off at the Budget location by the port. Then Budget has a FREE shuttle van that will take you to your ship. When you arrive at the ship the van driver will show you where he will pick you up after the cruise in order to take you back to the Budget office to rent another car.

The total cost to rent a midsize car was $40 each way that included us filling the gas tank. And the tolls where about $5.00 each way.

Much cheaper than Disney transportaion. Plus there is a Publix grocery store near the Budget office so if you need to pick up something you can stop at the store before turning the car in. We stopped at the grocery store to get a case of bottled water and a comb because my DH forgot to pack his.

My first three years, I did the land/sea package - 2000 was CBR; 2002 was supposed to be POR, but I was transferred to the Dolphin because of a refurb; and 2004 was finally POR.

All the transfers used to be included at you checked-in at the DCL in the airport and then at the DCL desk at the resort, if you were doing that leg first. It was great, especially on a really busy check-in day. I remember the first year, I checked in on Sunday morning and CBR was packed in the check-in area. I was fourth in line at the DCL.

Now, you have to book the cruise and then add a resort stay. ME is included in your resort stay, but now you have to pay for transfers to and from the port.
