Cost of certified/registered mail

Can anyone tell me how much it costs to send a standard letter certfied or registered mail? Is delivery confirmation just as good? Thanks!

Usually around $5, depending on the size and where it's going.

I like certified better because someone at the location where you are sending the letter has to sign for it, so you have proof it arrived.

Delivery confirmation is just the post office telling you "Yes we delivered it".

We send our income taxes certified. I also just sent in a passport renewal certified.

It's $4.40, for certified/return receipt requested.

I send EVERYTHING to the state and the feds this way. Saves a lot of headaches later.

You can find the prices at usps.com.
Also, remember that delivery confirmation can only be used with:
Priority Mail
Standard Mail
and first class parcels over 3/4 " thick.
It cannot be used with letters or flats. (manila sized envelopes)
