Cost of adding on 25 points

We have points at VWL, SSR and BWV. Totally we have 490 points, but actually feel like we need more!!! I have two questions .... (1) what is the cost per point at these resorts for an add-on ? (2) Are points still available? It has been many years since we've added on, and previously we always did this directly through DVC. We would like to do that again. Thanks for your help.

All of these resorts currently $130pp direct.

Every resort is always available direct. There may be a waiting list depending on location and UY.

I just purchased 30 add on points at SSR directly from DVC. $130 per point and the waitlist took about 4 days.

I know this is not exactly what you asked but I'd suggest you consider other options. If you only need an extra 25 now on 490, it shouldn't be difficult to get ahead in another way. Do you really need more? If not, I'd consider one of a number of ways to get ahead on points. Simply rent for a given trip maybe distressed points, take advantage of some special through CRO or even stay off part of a trip for non Disney options like Universal or Sea World. Just one time would put you ahead for a number of years if not the rest of the contract. The other option is to borrow ahead and kick the can down the road because eventually you'll have a year when things will be different or maybe you decide you do need more and can buy a resale contract at a better pp price.

Good advice, but we have already used/booked for one trip in late 2014 and two trips in mid 2015 .... basically ALL our points for the next two years! We never seem to have any to bank, just current and borrowed points. But, I hear what you are saying. If we took a year off, the points might begin to build up again. We just like to say "yes" to our kids and grandkids when they want to go, and, of course, we like to go on our own trips!!

If you have 490 points already and you max out every year, will adding 25 points be enough?
PS Tell your spouse that you need more than 25 points then look into resale.

Thanks everyone! We've given this lots of thought and appreciate the comments. So, bottom line is ..... No, 25 points really won't do much. And, we like the idea of booking a trip or two differently (renting points or staying elsewhere) for a year. Then we will see where we are. We had 19 points left for this year (couldn't be banked) so we are going to BWV for two days/one night and won't be going into any parks. We don't believe in wasting any points if we don't have to! Enjoy the summer, fellow DVC members.
