A previous post on post 9/11 air travel gave me this idea: How much would it cost to charter a small plane for a trip to WDW and back. I was thinking that if you got enough people in your area to do it, the cost would not be that bad. Any ideas or thoughts?

Depending on the size of the plane, probably several thousand dollars each way (I'm thinking maybe $3000.00), because the pilot would drop you off and then return to the starting point. He would come back down when you were ready to return. Unless you were only going for a day and then you could pay for the pilot to wait around for you.

... here is a link to the trade group for charter companies: http://inetserver.guides.com/acg/lifestyle/ You can get a quote through that site.

I read an article a while ago that said the average price for a charter arrangement is about $12K per trip, but I believe that was a jet.

BTW, remember that the accident rate for non-jet aircraft is much higher than for jets.
Prop planes are at higher risk for weather-related accidents because they fly at slower speeds in lower altitudes.

And there are passenger limits as well as luggage/cargo weight limits on the planes. So depending on the number of people, it may not be all that cost effective.

My husband is an aircraft mechanic for people who own and charter private jets, and it is VERY expensive. When people ask him how much it would be to rent a plane to fly somewhere, his answer is if you have to ask how much, you can't afford it. It's usually CEO's and bigwigs of big corporations that charter private planes.

He said go to your local airport where there is a FBO (Fixed Based Operator) and they should be able to give you a quote. My husband said depending on the weather it could be an very interesting ride! If you like the RR at MGM you'll love riding in a small aircraft in turbulance. I speak from experience!!
