Hi~
I am going to be staying in a studio for our first trip and I was wondering if/how much it costs to wash some clothes while we are there.

Thanks alot

Washers and dryers are free at DVC resorts. You can purchase laundry detergent and fabric softener there or bring your own. I pack laundry tablets and a few dryer sheets. It doesn't take up much room in my luggage and its a whole lot cheaper than purchasing it there.

In the hotel-like DVC resorts, there is only one laundry room in the area. They have about 3 or 4 washers and a similar number of dryers. In the spread out DVC resorts, they have a laundry room near each pool area. Maybe two washers and two dryers in each one.

If you have ever been to the laundry room at POFQ or the Polynesian, these laundry rooms are much smaller.

I believe each load is $1 but all I have done is look at the equipment and have never used any of it.

No charge. They look like you need to put money in them, but to start the washer/dryer, you just push/pull the money slot without any money.

If you can't find laundry soap tablets, you can try this. I put one scoop of detergent in a snack size zip lock and then put that bag inside a sandwich size zip lock that includes a dryer sheet. The detergent is now double bagged and if it comes open there is less of a chance of it getting all over your stuff in your suitcase. And the stuff to do a load of laundry is all together.

lsutigger2 - That's a great idea - I'll have to try it since I can't find the laundry tablets that I used to buy!

Boy, I'll bet that gives the drug sniffing dogs at the airport something to sneeze at! :rotfl2:

At Target I found liquid Tide in a very small container (4 loads) for .99. It has a measuring scoop that clicks onto the cap. I found it back with the small travel size items, not with the laundry detergent.

I also bought the tide at target I put it in a ziplock bag with a 10 pack of fabric sheets. just in case it leaked in the suitcase. It survived the trip just fine and it was just enough for my DH and I

Thanks - I wondered about that too. We usually stay in a 1BR or bigger, but when we were looking around at VWL I saw there were coin slots for the washers. I was confused because I thought they were supposed to be free.
