Last year we purchased AP's and DQ APs for a family of 4 and made three trips to WDW. We definitely got our moneys worth. Besides the cost, we felt we would not visit for another few years so we did not renew. Now DH has a convention in WDW and is staying at the Poly for a week. Room and his meals are paid for by the company so that is a hard one to pass up for the kids and I. We've never stayed at the Poly and we are all excited. My question is what is the best, and least expensive, way to go for tickets. I just can't put out another $1700 for APs this year. We won't be doing water parks but love DQ. I have a DC and AMX card. We have always had some type of park hopper but with DH tied up half the day I don't think we will need that. Thanks

Well, you'll need to sit down and figure out how many days you'll actually spend in the major parks. If you'll be going in every day and you will go to DisneyQuest more than once or twice, it might make sense to purchase the Ultimate Hopper passes (which include DQ) at check-in.

The regular Hopper and Hopper Plus passes don't include DisneyQuest. If you're not going to the water parks, the "Plus" part of the Hopper Plus passes doesn't do you any good, so it's hardly worth paying for. But if you're only planning to spend 4 or 5 days in the major parks, it might be a better deal to get a regular 4 or 5-day Hopper (no Plus) and buy separate admission to DisneyQuest (there are various discounts available on DQ).

Complicated, isn't it? If you'd like to see more about the discounts available, and compare the prices of all the possible passes, here's a link:

Hope this was more helpful than confusing!

Great advice, Mary. I love your website; you saved me a ton of money on my vacation last week. Keep up the excellent work and thanks.

You might also want to check to see if there are special convention tickets being offered for the family. I think sometimes you can get a good deal on those without buying the UPH. I think I've read about them also including DQ. I know the DIS convention is offering special hoppers with DQ.

Carolyn (who by the way also buys AP's and DQ AP's).

I'm in the very same position. When is the convention for you DH? Ours is in Oct. He is supposed to receive two 1 day passes as well. I haven't quite figured out what we're doing as well.
