Ok we all still have that kid in us and Disney seems to bring it out when we go to the parks. My question is how many adults get into cosplay and actual try to wear outfits that represent a Disney Character? I know adults are not allowed to get in costume but the more I research this the more I find out about finding clothes that you can put together to look simular to your favorite princess or vilian. Do you see many people in the parks doing this? If you are one of that has what character did you represent and how did you do it?

I'm planning on making a red with white polka dotted tank top to wear. That will be Minnie Mouse.

And then I want to wear an aqua tank top and my little mermaid necklace that I made for Ariel.

That's about all I've come up with so far. It's going to be in the 80's and humid when we go so whatever I do needs to be cool and comfy.

I do see this when I'm there - Minnie seems to be the most common, but about once or twice a day I'll see someone that is obviously trying to evoke Belle or Snow White, for instance. It doesn't seem to be a "guy thing".

There's a name for this, which I can't remember at the moment. I heard about it here on the Disboards maybe a year ago. (I'm not thinking of "cosplay", which is trying for as realistic a costume as possible - this is the flip side of that one.)

Have you ever looked through DisneyBound's tumblr? some cute ideas over there.

Yes I have and that is what has inspired me. It is hard to find some the clothes though depending how long ago the outfit was put together. I have long black hair so I am some what limited to Silver Mist or Jasmine. Not sure if wearing a dress in the park is good idea. I wanted to be Ariel or Merida but I do not want to dye my hair. Merida would be perfect though since I even ride a big black horse. Do you see many people wearing character wigs? Do you see many people wearing dresses? Keep in mind we will be there in May so no costumes will be allowed. If any one has any ideas I would love to hear them. Pictures would be even better!

I wear dresses/skirts at Disney all the time. I just wear some bike shorts under usually. I wouldn't stress about your hair color. Disney bounding is much more relaxed and the idea isn't to go as far as a wig, but to reference a character in an outfit you'd wear anywhere.

Every once in a while you hear of someone going too far. Disney doesn't want park guests posing as the real characters. It has resulted in ejection form property. Masks that obscure vision are a problem too.

"Rock Your Disney Side" is encouraging dressing up. It happens late May.

Do you know the exact date? No costume here just looking for clothes and accessories that resembles a character. My boys are going to be pirate for a day. Even have them set up with Pirates League. I thought it may be fun to find clothes to represent Ariel. Also kicking around the idea of Silver Mist, Jasmine, or Merida. Heck I am having fun just getting ideas.

The Rock your Disney Side event is May 23rd. It's a 24 hour event starting at 6am on the 23rd and going thru 6am on the 24th.

I can't say that I've ever seen an adult wearing a costume wig in the park and I would think that would be hot and uncomfortable anyways. The few I've seen doing the Disney bounding are very simple in what they do.

I had a friend who modified t-shirts to look like the dress collars the princesses wear.

So she was still in t-shirt and shorts for her park days, but you could totally tell who she was "supposed" to be.

Disneybounding is the biggest "term" for it, and you do have to be careful about it. I've seen people go a little too "all out" with it recently, wigs, cosplay type things, rather than regular clothes.

I love Disneybounding, the characters and cast members get really into it too & it really adds to the experience, here's what we've done in the past:

Aurora & Phillip:

Anna & Elsa:

Ariel & Eric:

Snow White:

Gaston:

Lottie (Princess & the Frog)

Rapunzel:

FOTLK Bird (this one was a little harder, definitely needs more visible feathers in the hair)

Peter & Tink:

Rapunzel & Ariel

The BFF did a really awesome Russell one:

I really enjoy Disneybounding, as it's a way for us to honour our favourite characters without breaking the rules of Disney's. Most of the time the characters get really into it, and not just the one you're bounding as, there's a friend of Merida's who always comments on it and it gives her a great base for the interaction. It really is awesome, and the other cast members will usually comment on it, I got a TON of comments on Elsa the two times we did that one, and Ariel & Eric were super successful too! Lol.

. You can always put a seashell clip in your hair and wear a purple top, green skirt for Ariel or merida curl your hair, wear her colors and find a merida tiara or something, be creative, have fun with it!

My gf and I are both cosplayers and are planning on doing closet cosplays for the parks- mainly disney "inspired" outfits, but we have some really cute ones that we are planning.

I would love to see some picks. I super excited about this! I just wish I found out about this sooner so I would have more time to look for stuff. This is a great way to make the time before our vacation more fun.

Our trip isn't for 9 more months, so we're still planning out what we'd like to do. How much longer do you have until your trip?

I did this for my two favorite characters:

Elsa:

Vanellope:

Definitely visit the character you're Disneybounding as if they're available to meet! You'll almost always get a great reaction. I'm laughing with Elsa because she's telling me the story of her misadventure trying to make an ice dress for Anna, and Vanellope was bouncing for joy a few seconds before that picture.

I just found out about this a few weeks ago; DD17 was sad that we can't ever go at Halloween and wear full costumes, and a helpful DIS poster pointed us towards Disney bounding. Now she is super excited to have outfits planned for all of our park days next week. Since we didn't have a lot of lead time (and didn't want to spend a ton), we went to Plato's to see what we could find, and based her characters on what was there. For example, we found a perfect Snow White skirt (a lot like Katt789's) so one day she will bound as Snow. I even found a pair of teal jeans and a purple tee, so one day I'll try it out as Ariel :) It would be much more challenging to pick the character first and then try to find the right clothing.

It has definitely added a new fun vibe to our park planning.

Katt789, your outfits are great!
