We went here late one night the Magic Kingdom and decided to have a snack. DH brought 3 delicious looking individually wrapped brownies to the table for us and on the label in little letters towards the bottom it said. . .

"Excessive consumption may cause laxative effect."

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat????:scared1:

Needless to say DH went back and exchanged them for different goodie. . .but how strange that they would offer a snack with that kind of warning?

Sooooooo. . .heads up about the brownines at Cosmic Rays!:rolleyes1

I have noticed that warning on sugar free desserts/candies that use Sorbitol. That is probably the case here.

I've always heard the rumour of baking brownies using chocolate Ex-Lax as a prank. Who wouldda thunk it.... :rolleyes1:

:rotfl2: Thanks for the heads up on that one. That would not make a very enjoyable MK day.

I think like the other poster said, they may have been sugarless brownies and yes... I wouldn't eat anything sugarless that contains Malitol at WDW or anywhere else unless you plan on staying inside all day. Things can get mightly ugly, mighty fast! :scared: tink

Maybe the could offer sugarless brownies with a side of Immodium! :lmao: Is that on the DDP? :rotfl2:

Hahahaha....that's absolutely hilarious, reminds me of an episode of That 70s Show...at least I know to stick to a Mickey bar or rice crispie treat from now on, lol.

Anything with Sorbitol in it can cause that effect. However, you'd probably have to eat 3 or 4 before that happened. Some sugarless candy and gum has the same warning on it.

Too funny!!!!! Thanks for the warning and the laugh!!!:rotfl: :lmao:

The worst part is they don't tell you it is sugar free! I got one of those things and let me tetll you, no one could eat excessive amounts. It was just not good:eek:

(and i missed that warning :scared: )

That sugar alcohol will kill you!! (not literally, you'll just wish you were dead) I once OD's on some sugar-free chocolate, and I thought I had a tornado in my stomach about 1/2 an hour later :scared1: I guess that's one way to lose weight! I'm glad you caught the warning, I'd hate for that to happen to your DH if he got caught on "It's a Small World". :headache:

Yes! Yes! That's it! A tornado in your stomach.. with bombs going off at the same time... and fireworks.. the duds.. not the pretty ones.

I tell you, sugar-free Mentos are lethal! One box of those buggers and you'll be 5 lbs lighter in 12 hours. :upsidedow

Sorbitol / Malitol gets my tummy churning in hurry too. 15 minutes & I'm done. I've used sugar-free candy as medicine instead of exlax before

It's a cheap sugar substitue. I can't beleive they're using it in WDW!

Thanks so much for letting us know!! I learned my lesson a few years ago after eating some sugar-free Hershey's miniatures.

Thanks for the warning...and the chuckle. ;)

Anyone know if these are the same brownies they have at Casey's Corner?

Wow ... I'm really surprised they're putting that stuff in their brownies! The last thing I want in a theme park is a diarrhea explosion.

Is this an isolated situation, or are, for instance, the Main Street Bakery goodies going to be filled with sorbitol/malitol?

I'm also curious if you had a choice of a sugar-free brownie as well as one with sugar? You know, like two different stacks or plates to pick from?

i'm sure there are lots of food that would give you a laxative effect if you ate excessive amounts. it seems silly that they would even need to warn people not to eat excessive amounts. this just seems obvious :confused3
