Please let me vent. I lost 33 pounds. It came off fast my counting calories. I was thrilled. I am a regular pain management patient who receives epidural/steroid injections for my back and they have never given me an issue up until recently. I had an 80 milligram injection and gained 10-15 pounbds in less than three weeks. No I did not eat much of anything but now 2 months later my hunger is astounding! Anyone had these issues or anything similiar and what did you do?

I am not a doctor but wanted to offer this to you. I am probably offering something that you have already done or know but just in case.

Have you talked with your medical practitioner? was the dose increased? These steroid injections can mess with your hormonal system which may cause weight gain as a side effect that is hard to combat.

I would suggest starting there. I hate to suggest meds but since you are a long term pain management patient, you may need something to counteract the hormonal effect.

From a physical side, it sounds like you may have crashed your Kcal intake to combat the weight gain from the last injection. You can eat too few Kcal which may cause the body to think it is starving and start to store food as fat. Essentially, over doing a diet can make one gain weight also.

Sorry but not much help and throwing pxie dust your way hoping you find a solution.

((Kathy)) my heart goes out to you. let me start by saying I don't much knowledge on the side effects or corticosteroid drugs. Definately talk with your doctor. I do have acquired much knowledge and experience with Cushing's syndrome, have you heard of it? Please take a look at this page http://www.cushie.info/index.php?op...info-from-nih&catid=16:general-info&Itemid=67 ...i know it's alot of info, but please make yourself aware of the symptoms of Cushings as prolonged steroid use can cause it.

It has been on my heart for a few weeks now to share my story with my WISH family and you have just given me the motivation to do so....please PM me if you have any questions you don't want to ask 'out loud'.
