I am assuming that when I call MS on May 16, I will have no problem getting a reservation for January at AKV because they don't sell more than they have, right? And the reservation will be for the 5th or 6th floor of the current AKL?

Depends upon how many other AKV owners call MS before you do wanting the same room size and dates. They can't sell more points than the total # of DVC rooms would need to sell out for one year. But that does not guarantee 50 other owners won't want the same room at the same time.

I CAN tell you I'll be making the same call on the 16th, for early Jan (5th - 11th). Not sure how "popular" that time frame will be, but...
