We have just booked to stay at the Coronado springs resort for the first 2 weeks in June 2004 and would appreciate any hints or tips on getting the best from our stay. My party consists of my wife our 10 yr old daughter and myself.

Welcome to the DIS Steve. :) We stayed at the CS in October and loved it. There's a whole thread on this resort that should answer your questions...I just bumped it up to the top of this board but here's the link for you as well: Coronado Springs Thread

Happy reading and if you still have questions, be sure to ask...someone will have the answer for you. :)

Hi Steve and welcome to the DIS. DH and I stayed at Coronado Springs in September and loved it - we were based in Casitas 1. What ? do you have and we'll try to answer them. Have you also looked at the UK DIS site?

We stayed a week at CSR in March with our 11-year-old daughter. We stayed in the Ranchos section and loved it. It's like an Old West town. Our daughter loved the cactus and she liked playing in the little bubbling streams and walking on the big rocks. There is a nice quiet pool also. If you get to the Dig Site early in the morning they have a little ceremony involving the kids that starts the water flowing down the pyramid. It's kinda fun for the kids. Also watch for armadillos and geckos and that kind of thing. My daughter got a kick out of seeing an armadillo for the first time. There is a bridge that goes through a little nature area. And don't forget about the water mice and surrey bikes. Those are fun and are under $20 each to rent. Be sure to eat at the Pepper Market. They have good food and it is a lot of fun picking and choosing what you want to eat. You will have a blast at CSR!!!

The Resort FAQ's are "stuck" at the top of the threads. You will find the link for CSR there all the time.

CSR is our favorite resort! Spend a lot of time at the Dig Site, eat a "wet" burrito (do they still have these?), & request a lake view room. Enjoy!

We stayed in the Cabanas section in July. We loved it. Our building was at one of the quiet pools. That was great too.

:D

Be sure to visit the Dig Site whenever possible. Awesome slide and the pool itself is huge. Also, be sure to check out the gift shop. It's one of the biggest of any of the resorts. And certainly be sure to take a stroll at night around the resort. Very romantic, even if your child has to be with you.

Thank you all for your replies. Since I posted my initial question my family and I have moved house and tonight its the first time that have been able to access the internet since then.
Sorry for the delay in thanking you all.
I have read all your replies and am now looking forward to my holiday even more.
Thanks
Steve

hi all - thanks for the info and for bringing the CSR thread forward. i was just going to post a question about CSR.

i really think i want to stay there this year. i stayed at CBR last year and enjoyed it very much. i especially liked walking the grounds and the beach/hammock thing which CSR has as well. plus i'm a sucker for themeing. i'm from the northeast and CSR is the LEAST like any environment in new england so that's what attracts me.

the only decision is...what area to stay in?
right now i'm kind of partial to the cabanas...due to close proximity to the hammocks. what do you think: it will be two adults, no children, don't mind a walk but would rather not be on a 3rd or 4th floor.

buzz2001 i loved your website and photos! thank you! very helpful.

it will be two adults, no children, don't mind a walk but would rather not be on a 3rd or 4th floor.
cabanas are only 2 floors high. ranchos are 3 and casitas are 4. cabana 8a or ranchos 7b would be a nice choice. both are close to the main pool with a short walk to the main building. 7b has a quiet pool in its courtyard

I've been hearing about this "Wet" Burrito quite often and have been wondering
What exactly is a "Wet" Burrito?

My daughter and I like burritos but the wet part sounds kind of funny.

The Wet Burrito is a must on each of my trips to WDW. It is a very large burrito that you can get with steak or chicken. 2 guests may be able to split it for $9.75 ($10.75 may have been increased). It is similar to a regular burrito with the exception of its size. It is stuff with refried beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, guacamole, cheese and then your choice of chicken or steak. I may have left some items out but you get the jist...

The "wet" part refers to a sauce that is poured over the burrito. I think it is a salsa or taco sauce if I remember correctly.;)

One reason that some people *don't* like CSR is because it is so big, but I think you should embrace the sprawling grounds and enjoy it on a bike ride! I didn't realize how much we were missing until we rented bikes one afternoon. It is beautiful all the way around! The Ranchos have a great desert oasis theme to them, and the Cabanas with their hammocks on the beach. I love the Casitas and all the fountains and gardens.

I think I'm going to rent a bike at every resort that you can, it's the best way to see everything! And make sure you take the nature trail - look for the hidden Mickey!
