Looking for any feedback from people who have stayed at Coronado Springs. Thinking thats where we may stay when we go in Oct. Will be my wife and I, and our 6 year old daughter. She loved AK last time we went, but we are wanting to try something different this time.

Thanks for the input.

I think it is. I have not stayed at FQ but I have stayed at the other moderates and Coronado is by far my favorite moderate :)

Enjoy.

Since the ammenities at the moderates are pretty much the same I think it's largely a matter of theming and personal taste. DW and I have stayed at POR and CSR, and have visited and/or dined at all the others. We loved both POR and CSR. You really can't go wrong with either, though CSR is the only moderate with a gym/exercise room if that's important to you.

Was reading mousesavers.com, and they recommend it as the best moderate resort also. Seems like that may be the way to go, will save us about $1400 over the 8 day vacation as well, that's pretty big.

Thanks for the input.

We have stayed at CSR several times..because events were being held there. We would never stay by choice. Our room has always been very run down, dirty carpet, walls, etc. I don't mean normal wear and tear between visits..I mean..in need of cleaning!!

The walk to the pool is horrible..especially on very hot days.

Food court..just ok..over priced.

On the upside..great bartender inside.

Well, that is kind of unnerving. From what I had read, they said it is the newest of the moderates, so had the least wear and tear...

When my wife and I went to DW about 5 years back, we stayed a few days at the Beach club, and then a few at the Contemporary. We really disliked the contemporary, especially after staying at the BC. We had ants in our room, and it just didn't feel as nice.

Need more input...

CS is by far the best mod. POFQ is great with it's "small" feel, and CBR even has a neat "island" theme, but nothing compares to the authenticity of the theming at Coronado Springs. You really feel that you are in a different part of the world. Request not only Cabana 9B, but the room closest to the bridge to the lobby. It is a corner room, with a window on the end - at about 7am, the sun rises over the lake and you feel like you're in a $500/nite resort. We have pictures from there that lok like postcards - all for under $100/nite in the offseason.

I have stayed in the Coronado twice, once in 2002, and once last summer, and I love it. It is my favorite moderate, Ive only stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter though. Caribbean has no interest to me. I love the theme, at night its beautiful to walk around the area with the lights they have hanging over the bridges... We have stayed I think in Casitas both times(never requested any specific room) and thought they where very clean. Plus parking was good both times too. Never had a problem with a convention, didn't even REALIZE it was a convention center until the second time I went there!

Coronado is fairly spread out, and I would recommend getting a car since I don't, correct me, I HATE disney buses. I keep dreaming of they day that they expand the monorail line.... :) The one time we did take the bus from Coronado the wait wasn't to bad, just other times we waited and waited, and the time it took waiting we could have gotten there driving.

Anyway if you like spanish, meteteranian (sp?) architecture Coronado is for you. Also I do like the Pepper Market, its a lot better managed then the other food courts, and the food choices are better, not just hamburgers, and pizza.

Me, DH, DD 5 1/2 & DS 2 will be going to WDW 2/5-2/23/05 & will be staying @ CSR. We have stayed @ CBR & Dixie Landings in the past (trying to stay @ all of the resorts is my goal, Value ones don't interest me though  ) I have to admit I think I am OCD when it comes to being clean & my family has been in the resturant buisness all my life. With that being said I will let you know what I think. Hope it will help

As certified Disney nuts, we have stayed at all the moderates, and while CSR is not terrible, it is tied with CBR for our least favorite.

Our room was also run down, and the walks can be long to the food court. Since it is a convention hotel, it can get rowdy and is not the best resort for kids. We stayed two nights and switched to the WL for the rest of our trip that year. We would never stay at CSR again.

Port Orleans FQ is our favorite moderate, but we have stayed several times at Dixie Landings (,,,oops,Riverside) and enjoyed that almost as much.

Yes, please let me know how you liked it. I realize we will have a great time wherever we end up, but it is still such a tough decision. We really like AKL, and just don't want to end up somewhere that doesn't give us that same feeling.

Thanks.

Thats funny because it was a decision between CSR & AKL. I just thought I would wait for AKL when my son is alittle older & may be able to enjoy it alittle more. I know we will have pictures as memories but I loved the theming @ CSR. Walking around the lake @ night looks breathtaking. I have also read that they have telescopes around the lake to look all around. And don't get me started on the main pool, looks awesome :cool1: I don't care how cool it is, I've promised my DD a dip in the pool & to go down that slide :Pinkbounc I've also been told to bring my kids to the main pool @ 10:00 am, thats when they turn on the fountains.

We stayed there for the 1st time this past November and absolutlely loved it!! We were actually bummed out that they have no availability in May for our Honeymoon!

We've stayed at POR, WL, and off-site..........as well as Coronado and we loved Coronado the best, even over the "deluxe".........actually, we'll never return to WL. Coronado is beautiful. The lobby has a huged domed ceiling with a painting of doves up above, there are fountains everywhere, Pepper Market is visually interesting, with a wonderful variety of food. The pool is fabulous with a giant Mayan pyramid, with water flowing down the steps.....a great slide. The sand pits inside the playground were great fun for my son. We loved this resort, and really want to go back, but also want to try others. We never had a moment's trouble with housekeeping, bus service, or the state of our room. We stayed in the Casitas, I don't know what number. Bus service seemed faster than at POR. We didn't find the walking to be that difficult........we do so much more of it in the theme parks!

I really think that it depends on your taste. To me, CSR is the least desirable of the moderates, but I think it is because it has a business type feeling about it. It just doesn't feel as magical to me. Although because it is a convention resort, there are amenities there that cannot be found at the other moderates, such as a spa, a salon, computer access, etc. that is appealing to many people. The Dig Site is also a huge draw. We have visited but the one time we were going to stay there I couldn't get my discount for the entire time, and I didn't want to split my stay, that is how I got hooked on POFQ--- it had just reopened after the main building rehab. Eventually we will stay there. My DSIL did and she really liked it, but she isn't a park/Disney person and was content to lie by the pool all day... and since the pool is pretty fantastic, that was enough for her!

I've stayed at Cornado 8 or 9 times and have never had a bad experience. I like the Rancho's best for it's unique theming. I have no complaints with CSR at all, but that said it is not the best moderate. That distinction goes to Port Orleans Aligator Bayou section, IMO. The landscaping and theme is simply outstanding.

We have stayed the last two WDW trips at CSR. We love it! We have stayed in the Ranchos which we loved the fun theming, close proximity to CSR's awesome pool area and the Ranchos section is a little more secluded and quiet. This past trip we stayed in the Casitas which is closer to El Centro. We had the best view overlooking the lake. Each section has a quiet pool, bus stops and a creative theme! The rooms at CSR are nice and spacious and we have always found them to be clean and fresh. The grounds are beautiful and we always take a few walks around the resort during our visits. The food court at CSR is by far the best and much fresher than the food courts at the other moderate and value resorts. We have always enjoyed our meals here.
We also love the close proximity to AK!
We absolutely love CSR and recommend it! :)

I would agree with that statement! Visit my CSR website below for pics, links and plenty of CSR info.

CSR is my favorite moderate. Some of the rooms are remote (that could be a good thing) and there is only one bathroom sink (ample counter space). It does have hairdryer, iron and coffeemaker with ACTUAL mugs. There is a limited room service menu and the Pepper Market is a very unique food court. I really liked it. The sit-down rest. has a great breakfast buffet. The whole resort is very upscale and beautiful (espceailly at night). The pool slide is MUCH better than the one at AKL. Each area has a quiet pool, which is also nice. POFQ is my second favorite, but loses out on first place because the pool at POFQ is just okay IMO-although the rooms at POFQ are the prettiest we've had anywhere at Disney.

In defense of the "conventions" and business types.... when I was there there was a poetry convention and women's health- no suits!

I am checking out the website now, looks very informative.

I am 99% sure we are going with CSR. The $ diff between it and the deluxe resorts is substantial, and it looks almost as nice, if not nicer in some respects. Now, any suggestions as to which section we should try to request would be appreciated. Will be me, my wife, and our 6 year old daughter, so semi-close to the main pool would be perfect, but maybe not so close that we have to deal with the noise.

Thanks again everybody, these forums are outstanding.
