I don't hear much about Coronado Springs, can anyone tell me what you like about it? Or don't like? I have been to POR and want to try a different moderate. Thanks!

My daughter loves the main swimming pool. We like to stay in the Ranchos section. They have very pretty grounds.

CSR is our favorite moderate, and beats some of the deluxe Disney resorts as our favorite. The resort is beautifully themed and landscaped. The bus service is the best we've had at ANY of the Disney resorts. The Pepper Market has a lot of variety and the food is good, in my opinion. We also love the pool and slide, again probably our favorite pool at DW and we've stayed at BC, which is famous for their pool. We love to walk around the lake or take a surrey, especially at night, and see the resort from different views. I really can't think of anything at CSR that I'd change or that I view as a negative. :)

CSR is also our favorite moderate, We prefer Cabanas area, but to each their own, The pool is fantastic and food choices are plentiful. I believe that the Maya Grill is the best kept secret in fine dining at Disney. The grounds are great and the staff has always met and exceeded our expectations. Even when not staying there we make it back to Maya Grill at least once a trip. We have stayed here about 5 times over the last few years and would not hesitate booking this moderate over all other moderates.

If you click on the link in my signature you will find my review-It says it all!

Thinking about going to CSR also, but with our 4 year old - would you all advise this?

Would there be characters floating around the resort? Or would we have to stay at an AS Resort for that type of kid fun?

I'm going Friday with a 4.5 yr old DS (and a DH). I've stayed at almost all the resorts and there is something for everyone. If I can't stay at a monorail resort, I prefer here.

That said, I've never stayed with a child before here, but I know that the rooms are nice, the pool fantastic and the buses that run here are the easiest to get on/off, etc.

I don't know if there are characters at the resort. I will let you know when we return.

I did not see characters at the resort

The pool slide is suppose to be fantastic along with the dig site

We LOVE CSR  it was the best resort we have stayed at so far! We are trying out POFQ in March but plan to spend most of our trips at CSR after that! I can't really pick any one thing that I liked about, the whole resort is just awesome, and there is nothing that I didn't like about it!

There are no characters at ANY WDW resorts that I have ever heard of. The Values have giant statues on the grounds of characters (at least at the Movies and POP they do) but there are no characters walking around.

Thanks for the info.

Booking the flight and WDW stuff separately.

Just booked the flight from Toronto for End of Feb.

Looking to book today/tomorrow...2 Adults and 1 Kid, CSR Standard Room, 7 nights, 7 day MYW Plus Dining (+hopper, +water), for ~2500 USD.

Thoughts?

Well we went in '06 and we went to Coranodo Springs and it it amazing!! But it is really spread out so be prepeared for a walk!!! But it has alot of pools. And it is really really pretty!!!

The CSR is our favorite Moderate. We visited the Port Orleans Riverside twice...once to eat at Boatwright's on our recent trip, and we found it way too loud and crowded for us. We have not visited the French Quarter. We did eat the Caribbean Beach Resort in the food court but did not like the food. We love the CSR because it is so spread out that you don't feel you have people on top of you (after all the day at the parks we like a little quiet)--even when there are conventioneers; we love the landscaping, the buildings, the quiet pool, the spa (my DH doesn't use it...but I do). Although our children are no longer young or go with us, we like the Dig Site pool and watching the little kids going down the slide and the ceremony at the beginning of the day. We like the options at the Pepper Market and love the gift shop which is huge! We have also had friendly CM's and Mousekeeping has always been terrific. The only thing I don't like about it is the single sink, but I live with it.

An overwhelming YES from the crowd - not sure if it was peer pressure or the pages upon pages of reviews (nice site Buzz)

We are now booked at the CSR for 2/24 to 3/2!!! :cool1:
I haven't told my DD yet, she saw some WDW books and was saying "Looks it's Cinderella's Castle...can we go for my birthday?"

Oh, did I mention she's turning 4 on 2/29 :)

Thanks for all the help!! :thumbsup2

Do a search you'll find that lots of DISers love the place.

The biggest downside is the size. Very spread out.

We tried Pop for somethign different this time, thinking we'd mind the downgrade. We did miss the coffeemaker and the hot tub, but otherwise with preferred location for less money, we thought Pop was much more compact (at least as far as we needed to walk to get around). I hate losing time walking back and forth around the resort (to get food, to get tothe pool, to get to the room, to the bus stop, etc.).

The foodcourt at CSR can't be beat though, esp. if you are on the dining plan.
The pool is also great.

no peer preasure here. You are going to love this place. I have to say there were a few deciding factors when we were decideing. The busses do not share with any other resort. The fact that it has a convention center means that there is less people on the busses and at the pool. I hate the wall airconditoner units. It has central air. means a better nights sleep. I also love the theming of the resort. It also has room service- which we never used but if you want the option is there. I also liked the location to the parks. Very centrally located - it only took minutes to any of the parks. DTD was a bit of a ride.

Enjoy your vacation!

CSR is a great resort with terrific transportation, a great pool/slide and awesome atmosphere!!

Hi froogle,
my family and I stayed at CSR the exact same dates this past February (it was our grand gathering of 21 family members all at CSR). We found the resort to be very tolerable in terms of crowd level, etc. with the exception of that first Saturday (2/24/07) - as many schools have vacation the week of President's week, and leave that weekend you're arriving.
You have a lot too look forward to now. Check out Buzz's website for preferred room locations, etc.
Make sure you tell them it's your daughter's birthday. My DD turned 14 the day we arrived and we had dinner at Chef Mickey's - she loved the extra attention, even though she's a teenager! The characters seemed to spend extra time with her. They'll give you a birthday pin and special placemat. Everywhere we went that day many cast members wished her happy birthday.
I'm sure your daughter will love having her picture taken at the castle. Too bad you didn't have the opportunity to book a meal there as you missed the 180 day advanced reservation mark for the castle :(
I'm sure you'll still have a magical time!

Just back from a 6 day stay at CSR.

Pool was great, although with the cool temps is was really only good to be swimming in the afternoon. Pool is not crowded this time of year at all.

Pepper Market and Maya Grill were both wonderful. I think the Pepper Market is the best counter service value with the dining plan and we took advantage of that. The Maya Grill was truly awesome.

We stayed in Cabana 8a. It is very close to bus stop 4 which was good for our family. We had very good bus service during our stay.
The resort was almost too big for us though. It was a "hike" if you wanted to do more than just stroll over to the lobby, which I needed to do more than once.

We checked in early, and since our room was not ready we went to MK for the day. Upon return only 2 of our 5 bags were in the room. It took a call to the bell staff, 3 hours, another call, and then for me to stand in the luggage room for 30 minutes to get anyone to find our 3 missing bags. That was very disappointing. I did take it up with management immediately but still it left a very sour taste.

CSR is a good resort, just depends on what your family is looking for and your needs during your stay.
