Coronado Springs - Tell me the good and Bad!

Just to keep the free flow of opinions going, here is mine of CSR:

CSR is a beautiful resort. I think the Ranchos section is gorgeous. This is the only positive thing I can say about the resort.

The resort is huge. The Ranchos section is very far from El Centro. It's a very long walk. There are supposedly golf carts that will take you there, but they were always whizzing by me - sometimes forcing me to jump out of the way - and they never stopped once to ask if I wanted a ride.

We heard our neighbors through the walls of our room. It's possible that we had really loud neighbors, but I have never heard my neighbors at POR or POFQ.

I thought the food court was terrible. 10% gratuity to get drinks? come on. You have to wait to be seated. Then wait to get food. Then wait to pay. (at POR and POFQ you just wait for food and wait to pay). I found the staff there to not be that friendly. The food court is also extremely busy. Every night we went, there was a huge line just to get in to be seated. The whole El Centro area is packed in the evenings (which I find to be the opposite at POR and POFQ).

I think CSR is beautiful. If they were to build a food court similar to all the other food courts on property over by the Dig Site, then I would like the resort much better.

We did POR this spring and is was so wonderful and disney like..

Avoid CSR like the plague

That's the great thing about Disney, something for everybody! I'd never go back to POR, it just did not WOW me in the least. Loved CSR, would go back anytime!

I think it is all just a matter of personal preference. If you don't mind walking (which we don't), CSR is great for that. We truthfully did not like the food court at the All Sports or POR. We liked the variety at Pepper Market and we have never had to wait for a table.

My trip report didnt' make Buzz's list :sad1:

Anyway thought i'd include it. It's got some tips in there and some pictures (sorry the pictures are huge, it was my first time posting pics and I was still learning).

We can't wait to go back to Coronado, and although there was a convention going on, we never knew it.

We stayed in Ranchos 7b and it was really far from the main building and not too too far from the main pool. It was such a pretty walk though! I think for us we will try to stay closer to the main building next time. Have a great trip http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1535549

I think CSR is beautiful and relaxing. There are some conference people there, but there are conference people at the Beach Club and other hotels, too. I have no idea why, but CSR gets slammed for it and the others don't. The conference people - when I see them - don't bother me a bit!

Also did not have swarms of men oogling me. More's the pity. ;)

But I HATE the 10% fee for eating in the food court!! Hate it, hate it, couldn't hate it more. Pisses me off.

I had somehow missed your report. First, congratulations on your wedding/honeymoon. I just got a chance to read your trip report. Thank you. You have only gotten me all the more excited about our arrival on September 1 at CSR.

I've wondered, since Pepper Market is an outsourced counter service restaurant, if Disney is truly aware of how annoying it is to have to pay an extra 10% to be allowed to sit down in air conditioning. It sure doesn't contribute to having a magical day, does it?

Well, convention people won't give a hairy ratt's butt, because the company is paying for it.

Some guests won't notice it.

Some guests will notice it and not care, as it is a drop in the bucket compared to what the whole vacation costs.

There probably aren't a whole lot of us who get pissed off about it. And even fewer who complain to Disney (I know I don't.)

But I'm sure they know that some guests really hate it and they just don't care.

No I didn't, you're number 125. :goodvibes

Obviously, everyone would like the 10% to go away but it is not a deal stopper for me. The 10% is shared among all the CM's including the chefs/cooks. In an ideal world it wouldn't exist but in our world it does but to me it's worth it for real silverware and plates, begin seated and having a table when I get my food and not having to play table hunter and for being able to order my food the way I want it.

As I mentioned in other threads, you can eat outside on the promenade or poolside or in your room if you want to avoid the 10%. No, it's not ideal but it is an option.

If that's the biggest complaint on CSR, I'm sure they will live with it.

Buzz,

I don't take it to personal levels, ever. Please do not call me a troll or take personal attacks to me.

I post many topics and I give honest opinions and like to think that my posts provide good information.

Sorry if we don;t see eye to eye about your favorite resort. But clearly it is not for everyone, and we all have the right to post here without being harrassed or being called a troll.

So I appreciate it you would keep things like that out of it.

thank you

From someone who has stayed at CSR, my DH and I just love it! It's a great resort. Very romantic, great to walk around in the evening, take a stroll over the lighted bridge and over to the hammocks on the white sand beach.

The transportation is the best and is not shared like POR/POFQ and there are only 4 stops. Quick rides to the parks and the buses never seem to fill up.

I don't mind the 10% because the Pepper Market food is the best.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Oh and ps - never any problems with any guests including convention goers.

Buzz, I've mentioned it before but your photos are beautiful. You could be a professional photographer.

Anyway, I've never stayed at CS, but would if I had the chance. Our last stay at the Contemporary was having a huge convention and there were lots of "suits" walking around. We still had a blast. It doesn't matter where you stay, there are always conventions going on and lots of of business people.

Have a blast!

I'm even more happy that it's a convention resort. It seems to make the buses less crowded. I haven't been oogled in about 25 years. WEEHOOO!!! Bring it on:woohoo:

DH and I were at CSR this past April and absolutely loved it! What a wonderful resort. We were in the Casita's, we had requested Cabana's but didn't get it. The walk to the pool etc. was no big deal. The pool is fantastic.

We ate the Pepper Market a few times and it was very good, were on the meal plan so the 10% was not a big deal, however, I don't think the service is worth anything at all....oh well!

The resort had a lot of conventioner's, but they were quite and respectful. We have stayed at POR and will be at POFQ this fall, but CSR I think will remain our favourite.

I stayed at CSR for the first time on one of those conventions this past March (it was actually for Disney business which was totally cool and we were very well behaved during our stay). It was a nice resort overall. In terms of moderates, if I was choosing a mod hotel for a trip with my family I'd choose any of the other moderates over CSR for one main reason - single sinks in the bathroom area. Not sure why CSR has single sinks while the other moderates have dual sinks, but that could be an issue for a family and I'm not sure the thought process behind it.

I personally think the food court is great, I loved the theme and the pool is the best pool of the moderates. That said, overall POR would be my personal choice for a moderate stay.:)

That's is true but the sinks at POR/POFQ have no counter space (pedestal sinks) while CSR has only one sink it has tons of counter space.

My preference would be to have the counter space.

Oh, you're right! But the pedastal sinks have a shelf above which could serve as your counter space - I don't know, it's been a long time since I've stayed at a moderate with my family (we're a family of 5).
