We have a standard room booked for next month, what are the odds that we could be put in the tower instead? I booked a standard and am fully expecting a standard, just wondering since sometimes they give you an "upgraded" view.

I tried this in January and it didn’t work. They were very booked with many groups in house because they are a group hotel. Because it’s a bookable category with a pretty big price difference vs a regular standard front desk mentioned to me that if they did have it I’d have to pay the difference. That it wouldn’t be a free upgrade.

Good to know. I've often thought it was possible.

Upgrades at Coronado are just like free upgrades at any Disney resort in that they're totally random and tend to happen when you least expect it. We stayed there about a year ago on our Honeymoon and decided that we'd rather intentionally move to the tower rather than hoping to be upgraded from a standard room. We don't regret doing so as we still did not not get upgraded to a better view, despite having booked a standard view in the Tower long before demand was fully back and having a celebration on our reservation. I've heard of it happening, I just wouldn't book a standard with the expectation of getting upgraded.

I'd say from all I've read it's probably less likely these days then it was say 3-8 years ago. When we went to POFQ in 2020 our TA's said event then it's best to book what you want then ask for the location (area) of the resort you want. So in our case we booked a River View King Bed, then our TA requested a certain building - which we got everything we wanted even ground floor.

Right. I have stayed at many DW resorts and never been upgraded. One can hope:flower1:
