I will be checking in tomorrow for our first CSR stay.

after reading about traveling around the world to and from CSR I am having 2nd thoughts about this resort? We will be there for free dining in March/April and I am about 2 weeks away from making my dining reservations....hoping the park schedules with EMH will be released by then, too. We are flying into orlando and do not ever plan to get a cab for any transportation for ADRs or anything else....will this pose a problem? Should I rethink this?

Some list of restaurants I am considering are:
Chef Mickeys for breakfast one day
Crystal Palace for breakfast one day
SCI FI theater
Narcoossees one night
one night dining at downtown disney....not sure where, yet
ESPN
San Angel Inn
Cali Grill or Jiko....been to both, unsure of this trip....

Its the restaurants that are located at resorts that I am most concerened with making the ADRs for.....

As has been mentioned, most of these should be absolutely fine. Jiko can be a bit troublesome, depending on dining time, as it will require a transfer to get back to the resort. However, cab fare from AKL to CSR is only about $10-$12 or so and it's a pretty quick ride. So that is an option. Alternatively, the good ol' take the bus to an open park, then take the CSR bus back will work.

When staying at CSR, what I normally do though is to book my dining at resorts as parts of a hop.

For example, my trip in 3 days (YAY!) I will be doing the following hops with dining:

• AK -> AKL (Boma) -> DHS PM EMH
• EP -> CG -> MNSSHP
• AK -> Sanaa -> DHS -> FF -> Epcot (though I may take a break back at CSR on this day)
• MK -> GFC -> Epcot
• AK -> Citrico's -> MNSSHP

Utilizing the resort meals during hopping helps to break up the travel a bit, and keeps it very easy going and coming from the meal. I am doing Jiko one night (Thursday when I arrive), but Mom will be around and we'll just drive over (she's not doing a park that evening).

Of course, this means I don't really get to freshen up before dinner, but a change of shirt and some water on my face in the resort bathroom accomplishes that for me just fine.

I too will be staying at CSR the 1st week of October. Last time I checked there are conventions on both weekends but not during the week. 10 days out, I get to call in a room request today.

We were there in 2009 during the Learning Conference in November. This attracts a lot of attendees, my sister was attending and I never noticed any problems with crowds. Captain Scully from the Hudson Miracle was the keynote speaker - it was a major conference. Spent quiet afternoons at the pool or in a hammock in the cabanas section while ds played in the sand. What amazes me about the Cornado is that when you see pictures from trip reports or reviews it looks empty and quiet. People complain about it being spread out, but that also works to keep it quiet and not crowded. I can't wait to go back this week!

Still thinking about getting a rental car for our stay. Didn't I see somewhere that if you are staying on site that parking at the parks is free? Do you just show your room key or do you get a pass when you check in at your resort?

You saw correctly. Parking is free at the parks when staying on-site. They will simply give you a parking pass for the resort, having that in the windshield when you arrive to the lot gates will get you waved through.

I was out of town for the weekend (went to see our son in a neighboring state) and then came home to find out that my brother had been in a car accident (no one was hurt, thank goodness), but my husband's car is pretty smashed up.

In any event, I have a full two days at work before we leave for our Disney trip on Thursday. Therefore, I just want to wish all of you leaving soon or leaving while we are at DW, a most magical trip and a very enjoyable stay at the CSR. I hope those new to the CSR like it half as much as we do...which will be a lot.

So many great and positive reviews I am reallly looking forward to staying here.

Stayed at GF (2), POP (6), Shades (7) and PORiverside (1). So far the resort we like the least is the POR. Just the layout of the resort and the bathroom layout wasn't good either.

Bill Clinton and Actor John Lithgow will be keynote speakers at the scheduled convention during my stay. I'll keep an eye out for secret service. Of course if I see them then Bill isn't far behind.

We'll be at CSR then too! I'm worried Clinton's security detail will screw up my touring plan.

We're flying to Florida and rent a car since we also go to Marco Island (after Disney). The car will be there when we get back and we'll deal with it then.

Have a magical time Kat!! I'll be posting a review with pics when we get back from our Mickey World trip with our 3 year old granddaughter. SO looking forward to seeing the magic of Disney thru the eyes of a child again. Seems like it was just yesterday when we took her mom there for the first time (actually it was 25 years ago....wow....time flies).
