Hello Mom2,

I hope Bill doesn't mess up your plans it says.

"November 7, 2011 in Orlando, Florida.
President Clinton, Founder of the William J. Clinton Foundation and 42nd President of the United States, will be addressing the Learning 2011 Conference at our Monday afternoon General Session."

Hopefully he will not be anywhere near your ADR's!!

Thanks to ALL of you to have been replying and helping others...greatly appreciated.

I was out of town for the weekend (went to see our son in a neighboring state) and then came home to find out that my brother had been in a car accident (no one was hurt, thank goodness), but my husband's car is pretty smashed up.

In any event, I have a full two days at work before we leave for our Disney trip on Thursday. Therefore, I just want to wish all of you leaving soon or leaving while we are at DW, a most magical trip and a very enjoyable stay at the CSR. I hope those new to the CSR like it half as much as we do...which will be a lot. :goodvibes

So glad your brother is OK!

Have a magical time at the World!:banana:

We're flying to Florida and rent a car since we also go to Marco Island (after Disney). The car will be there when we get back and we'll deal with it then. :goodvibes

Kathy,
I wish you a great trip. You are so deserving for all the info you provide on this thread for our benefit. Relax, enjoy and don't worry about the DIS while you're gone. You've made some great friends who will watch over it for you. Besides, we're all expecting a new thread and a trip report upon your return!!!:rotfl2:

Yikes! I just read this.:scared: We will be newbies at CSR, arriving in the morning on November 8th! Hopefully, all the hoopla will be over by then.

BTW, this thread is awesome. Thanks for all the info. The kids wanted to stay here and I wasn't sure until I read this thread. We are looking forward to it! party:

KatMark,

I'm glad your brother is okay, but am sorry about the car. I hope you have a fantastic vacation. I'll look for you in the parks.

Hi all,

I would like to bring coffee to use in the coffee makers. Does anyone know if the coffee maker uses a basket or cone shaped filter? I saw a recent review of the CSR on another site and it looks like Disney provides coffee in a pre-wrapped filter so I figure I will need to bring filters. Any help is appreciated. :)

Our whole family loves CSR!! It just feels like home! We tried CSR when it first opened and a few times after that. Had one bad convention experience, it was a teenager's convention. Decided to give other resorts a try, and came back March 2011 and it's become our favorite again!!

I hope your family enjoys it as much as we do!!

My first trip to CSR was during Learing 2009 because my sister was attending. There a lot of attendees, but they are busy with the program. I'm sure the bar was crowded at night, but that doesn't impact most families. We had such a great time and hope you do too! When we planned this trip, there was no doubt that we wanted to stay at the CSR again. :)

Thanks everyone for the kind words.:lovestruc I think we will love it and will definitely post my opinion when we come back. We have previously stayed at AKL, WL and the Poly. However, none of us liked the Poly and would never stay there again. CSR looks more and more inviting to us!

Oooh, sorry to hear about Mark's car, but glad your brother is OK. Hope you two have a wonderful trip.

I just got back from a wonderful stay at CSR. We were there Sept 10th-18th. It's no secret that I have a fear of being stuck out in the Ranchos. Sure enough when I checked in, we had been placed on the top floor in Ranchos 7A. I guess the very nice CM saw the horror on my face, because she asked if there was a problem.:rotfl: I told her I had requested a first floor room anywhere in the Cabanas with a preference for Cabana 8A and that the Ranchos were the one area I specifically did not want to be.:rotfl: She laughed and said to give her a minute to see what she could do. After checking she asked if I'd be willing to wait for a room in Cabanas 8B. I was so thankful and told her that'd be fine. She then said no wait a minute, to see if she could find a room that was ready. Not wanting to lose that Cabana room I assured her I didn't mind waiting, but she came back and told me she had a perfect first floor room in Cabanas 8A that was ready. When I arrived at the room I was surprised to find she had upgraded us to a wonderful waterview. This had to be the best room I've ever gotten at CSR. If you walked up the walkway that seperates building 8B from 8A from bus stop four, we were the very first room from the bus stop. If you stepped outside our room and looked straight we were facing the lake, but if you glanced to the left you could see the bus stop and parking lot. We were literally less than a minute from the bus stop, less than two minutes from either the Cabana quiet pool or the main pool, and less than five minutes from the main building. We only had neighbors on our left side as you were facing the building. The ice machine was just around the right corner, just steps from the room. It had to be the perfect location.

My friend had a rental car we used for the most part, but I did use the buses a few times when I went off on my own and the bus service was excellent as usual. I never saw anyone standing. I ate at the Pepper Market three times and it was very good each time (chicken nachos, steak burrito, and a blue cheese burger). I grabbed a Cuban sandwich my last day at Cafe Rix and it was also good. We had friends staying over at Kidani Village at AKL, who joined us for dinner after Universal one night. They too enjoyed the Pepper Market and said they wouldn't mind making another trip back over there to eat. Housekeeping left alot to be desired though. Three different afternoons we arrived to find that our room had not been done. However, on my last morning the housekeeper arrived about 8:30am asking when I was leaving as she needed to get the room ready for the next guests. Other than housekeeping it was a perfect stay however. I think there were some conventioneers there, but it was still very peaceful and quiet. We went to both the quiet pool and the main pool. Neither were crowded and they had trivia and pool games at the main pool, which were nice.

Can't wait to return Nov 26th-Dec 4th!:yay:

Just got back from my stay at CSR and I know the posts with reviews were the most helpful to me, so I wanted to give something small back.

Just a very small amount of background. Twenty years ago was the last time I went to Disneyland, never been to WDW. My wife has never been. We are in our early 30's, no kids. I don't have any other experiences or resorts to compare our stay to.

Check in - Very easy. We requested Cabanas and were given Casistas. After a phone call from a VERY helpful CM we were in Cabana's room 8111 very close to the Dig Site and bus stop 3.

Room - I thought it was very clean. I loved the divider in the room, I didn't have to listen to the hair drier at full blast, made getting ready early nicer because the other person didn't have to deal with as much noise or light etc. I loved the fact that we had a fridge. We taxi'd to Winn Dixie and we were able to get some soda, and some OJ, 2 things the fridge came in very handy for.

Food - We only went to the Pepper Market, not the Maya Grill so my opinions are based solely on it. I thought the food was horrible. My wife got a chicken quesadilla, and the quality of the chicken was so abysmal it was disgusting, and possibly / probably undercooked. I got chicken fajitas which were edible but the amount of oil and grease on the grill it was being prepared on was disgusting and while edible and different from the qusadillas, the quality of the chicken was very low. Also, when we spoke to someone about the quality of the quesadilla specifically, they were incredibly nice, offered to remake us anything we wanted, however we wanted. Great service, horrible food.

Transportation - We relied 100% on Disney buses to get to parks, we usually taxi'd resort to resort. We thought the bus service was very good. We did have 1 45 minute wait, and of course it was when we were trying to make Hollywood Studios rope drop, but if it was that important to us we would have gotten up earlier. We pulled into the park around 9:10, were were hoping for 8:45, 9:00 the latest. The longest ride was to Magic Kingdom, and it was no big deal at all.

Overall, I was pleased with the resort. If we went again, I'm not sure we'd choose Coronado Springs, but only because we are curious how it stacks up to Port Orleans or Caribbean Beach.

Thanks for the AWESOME thread. The bypass trick came in handy, the bus info, which building we wanted to be in, GREAT thread.

Thanks for the review. Sorry to hear about the food! It's amazing to me the mixed reviews PM gets...maybe consistency is its biggest problem? :confused3

Thanks so much for coming back and giving us your thoughts. Unfortunately, for all the times we've stayed at the CSR (nine times), the Pepper Market has had a love/hate relationship. I don't eat Mexican food so I've never had an issue with that, but they have taken a few things off the menu that I really enjoyed. We try to eat mostly at the parks, and only have one meal at PM.

We have not stayed at POR or CBR, but have visited them both. We really like the looks of POR and love their food court. If the Coronado were not available, we would definitely stay at POR. Unfortunately, CBR holds no appeal for us at all--don't like the smaller beds, hated the food court and don't care for the theme...probably because we go to Marco Island for a week after our time at Disney and don't need the beach theme. I hope you'll let us know what you choose next and what you thought.

What is the "bypass trick"? I feel like this is something I need to know. :)

The bypass is for the air conditioner (you should find the info on Page 1 or 2 of this thread).

Wonderful to hear about the room upgrade! You must have had the same housekeeper we had in March when we stayed in 8A. It was 4pm some days 'til the room was cleaned, yet on check-out day the cleaning cart was outside our room at 8am!!

Sorry about the Pepper Market. We had the raw chicken thing once. Our last meal there in March. In August, we had excellent quality and perfectly prepared food at the PM. Our only PM gripe was being ignored when we wanted to place an order.

Yes! What is the "bypass trick"? We are headed back in a few weeks!!!

By the bypass trick I just meant bypassing the room sensor with the thermostat so you don't wake up in the middle of the night sweating. We forgot one night and the room got very warm. Keeping the AC on all night really helped us sleep better.

Thanks for your report as well! I know hearing others experiences has helped me tremendously!
