Back from our week stay at CSR!:sad1: We where there from March 31 to April 7. We stayed in Ranchos 7B. Loved the area. We where close to the Ranchos pool and right by the Dig Site pool. The only down to the location was that Bus Stop 4 was still closed. Funny thing about that is that we came and went during different times of the day, and NEVER saw any work being done to it!:confused3 We ate at the Pepper Market and Maya Grill two times each. Food was good for both places. I loved the new dark furniture and sliding doors for the bathroom area! Mousekeeping was very good. Our room was always clean and neat when we returned mid-day for a rest. All in all, it was a great trip, and my kids can't wait to go back again!

So glad you had a great trip! I hadn't heard that bus-stop #4 was closed, but I hope it is open by the time we get there in 41 days, because I requested Cabanas!

Hi everybody,

Please forgive me ahead of time because my mind is a mess of facts right now. Can you tell me which building is best suited for: close to a bus stop, close to dig site pool, not too far from main building...in that order and yes, I'd pay for preferred.

Sorry, I just can't even think right now!

To be close to the Dig Site and a bus stop, the best options are Cabanas 8B, Cabanas 8A and Ranchos 7B. Of those 3, Cabanas 8B is the closest to El Centro, followed by 8A, 7B. None of those are preferred locations. The preferred rooms are in Casitas 1, 2, 3 and while close to El Centro, they are a bit further from the Dig Site.

Check out the map on the first page of this thread to get a good look at where everything is located. Your idea of "close" and mine may differ. :)

I'm off to check it out...I have a clearer head now that it's the morning! Thanks for the help!

We were just there. Bus stop #4 is closed but they have a temporary stop set up for #4 just down the road a bit and it has a tent and benches. It was the main bus stop that we used and it was just fine. It is behind Cabanas 8B.

We used the tent as our bus stop. We just thought it was funny that we never saw anybody working at the stop! I didn't mind the extra walk. It was about 100 yards away from stop 4.

Just extended our trip an extra night.:cheer2: That means 7 nights, not 6. That just means I get to do more planning. Can't wait!

I stayed at CSR about 3 years ago in a Jr. Suite for a Grand Gathering and absolutely loved it! So when planning my up coming trip in August, it was a no brainer that I would stay at CSR. Lately, I have been reading reviews stating that the rooms have been dirty (specifically moldy bathrooms) and reports of bed bugs. Has anyone experienced any of these issues during recent stays? :confused3

We came back on 4/2/11. Rooms were clean, no bed bugs and lots of construction on bus stop #4 except for the day it stormed. I loved the quietness of CSR as well.

Bed Bugs?? Moldy Bathrooms? Where did you read these reviews? Were they recent? I searched this site in search of hotel reviews and only found positive things said. I'm shocked (and now nervous)......

I was reading some reviews on Trip Advisor. Some of the reviews were from recent months. I have been nervous as well!

We were at CSR from April 2 - 9. DH and I were traveling with our daughter, son-in-law and 2 year old granddaughter. First the positives, I thought the resort was lovely and peaceful - especially in the evening. Our room was very clean and we were pleased with mousekeeping all week. There was one towel "creature" in our room when we arrived, but that was the only one for our trip. Not a big deal. All CM's we encountered were helpful and friendly. We only ate at the Pepper Market once, but the food was very good and plentiful. In spite of reports I've read, it was not confusing to us! The buses were great! No long waits at the resort or parks. (Bus stop #4 had re-opened on Friday.)

The one downfall to our stay was the location of our room(s). I had requested connecting rooms in either the Cabanas or Casitas sections. We did receive connecting rooms but were located in Ranchos 6A. Since connecting rooms were our priority, I didn't ask about another location at check in. During our stay, we discovered that, although we were quite close to the Dig Site, we were also just about as far from El Centro as we could get! We've stayed at POR in the past and did not mind the walk to the food court, but CSR is a good deal more spread out. We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. However, since requests are not guaranteed, unless we decide to pay for a preferred room, we will probably not stay at CSR again.

With regard to buildings, I've seen maps that list Ranchos as 6A, 6B, 7A, 7B (I think these were on Allears).

Then, I saw another map that listed them out as 7A, 7B, 7C, & 7D (these were all "sides/sections" in what the first map listed as building 7A) & 7E, 7F, 7G, & 7H (these 4 would be the "sides/sections" in what the first map listed as 7B).

IF I were to request a location in Ranchos, and I hoped to be in what the first map listed as 7B (near Bus Stop #4 and Ranchos quiet pool), where would I be????

Glad you had a good stay and good food there! I love the new dark furniture too! Glad mousekeeping was very good! Also, that is wonderful your room was cleaned before you came back for your rest. Did you request it to be cleaned by a certain time? We had the same thing our room was always cleaned by the time we came back to it. That didn't happen when we stayed at Pop the last 3 times. Seemed every time we came back to swim, just as we were changing into swim suits, was when mousekeeping showed up, lol.

We stayed in building 8A, it was very close to bus stop 4 and the dig site. About a 10 minute walk to the main building. Feel free to check out my TR linked in my sig. It had pictures of how close we were to the dig site and bus stop in there.

Hurray for another night!!!

Please check out my TR in my sig, we had a wonderful stay in March! No bed bugs, great mousekeeping, no mold in the bathrooms!

Don't be nervous! We had a wonderful stay in March. If the room doesn't meet your expectations, call mousekeeping as soon as you inspect your room. If something is wrong they will address the problem! I found CSR's mousekeeping staff so friendly and attentive!

Glad you had a good stay and got connecting rooms. The ranchos are a good haul to El Centro. If you would change your mind to stay at CSR again, you could always make the request NOT to be placed in the Ranchos, but as you said a request in not guaranteed.

The difference between POR and CSR and the distance, is that POR has a an extra bridge over the river. CSR only has that one bridge close to the Cabanas. I know that bridge was a short cut for us to and from El Centro from Cabana 8A.

6 A and B and 7 A and B are your only Ranchos choices.

Yes 7 B puts you near stop 4, the ranchos quiet pool, and close to the Dig site. 8A would also put you very close to the Ranchos quiet pool, the Dig Site and the bus stop #4.

Hello, I have to travel to Tampa for work a week before our Disney trip and have some extra time so I was thinking of driving to Coronado springs to drop off some of our luggage to make travel the following week easier. Is this allowed? Where do they store it? It would just be two large suitcases. Would there be a fee? How would I het it when we came back the following week?

Just spent April 1-3 at CSR before traveling to Fort Myers for a week at the beach. Awhile back some of you asked that I post my thoughts on the resort with little ones since some of you have children the same age as mine (DS4 and DD7)...

CSR is gorgeous!!! I did online check-in and was happy to find that our room was ready when we arrived at 10:30 AM. I had requested a room in Cabanas, but we were assigned to ground level in Ranchos 6B (6510). We planned to spend our first day at the pool, so this location was acceptable because it was a short comfortable walk to the Dig Site. The room was great and although (based on pics) I thought I wouldn't like the theming of Ranchos, we actually loved it. It was very pretty.

The Dig Site for kids the age of mine was fantastic. Both rode the water slide all afternoon. DS4 did wear his own life jacket brought from home while going down the slide. It is Coast Guard approved, as it is the one he wears while boating during the summer. The other great thing about the pool is that there are steps that run the length of one side of the pool, so for little ones, this increases the amount of space to play/swim without having to be in the kiddie area. They enjoyed the playground, but spent the majority of time in the pool.

Loved the pool concessions. It was great to be able to eat lunch poolside without having to walk over to El Centro.

The walk to El Centro... I walked to El Centro from our room and enjoyed it greatly. My kids (after being exhausted from swimming all day) were another story :rotfl: We drove to FL so my husband just put the kids in the car after their naps and met me at El Centro (I highly recommend the Laguna Bar...nice place to get a drink and enjoy the beautiful scenery) when they woke. That having been said, if you do not have a car, you will want to seriously think about how your family will spend its time. If you still have little ones in strollers, you will not mind the walk from any location at CSR. If you have kids "in between" like mine, you will want to choose your room preference based on that. If you do not plan to go to the pool everyday, it might be worth it to you to be in a building closer to El Centro (or book preferred to guarantee Casitas) for the convenience of food. On the other hand, if you plan to eat at the parks or at the pool bar, request to be close to the pool if you plan to swim. Bottom line is the walk is not bad unless you have tired little legs;) and if you think that you might have whiners while going to eat everyday, you might want to plan accordingly to best meet the needs of your family.

On Saturday, we spent all day at MK. On Sunday, we went to BB and then returned to CSR for a nap by the pool and then dinner at Pepper Market before heading south. For those asking about changing areas, there is a nice and clean shower area in the restroom area near the pool. We took advantage of this on Sunday evening before dinner.

Would I go back to CSR? Absolutely! Was I glad that my first experience with the layout was just a weekend trip? Absolutely! Now I know a little more about which rooms to request for my family if we return. The kids loved it and so did my husband and I. It was a great trip!

We leave for CSR in just 47 days. Can anyone tell me where my huband will be able to get his morning coffee in his refillable mug the fastest/easiest...
I am not a coffee drinker so NOPE cant make it in the room. I can't stand the smell of it. Should we allow 1 hour extra time for coffee.. UGHHH help.. I want to be at the parks at opening so have to have it planned when to tell him to GO and hurry back or the rest of us head to the park without ya. :rotfl2:

He can either make it in the room, head to Cafe Rix with a refillable mug, or there is a little quick window at the Pepper Market that is closest to the sit down restaurant. They have quick pastries and coffee. The food and beverage at the Dig Site opens a little later, I think it was 11am when we were there.

I noticed people in other threads mentioning they "tour" other hotels. Does CSR allow non-guests on site? On our arrival day we will be meeting friends that are staying off site and we planned on a non park afternoon/evening. We're trying to plan our day. Can they visit and swim or eat at the pepper MArket or Maya Grill with us?

They are certainly welcome to visit you! Disney encourages guests to visit their resorts - they want you to love it so much you'll stay there! :rotfl:

They would need to show up and tell the guard that they are visiting friends or that they want to tour the resort and they'll be allowed to park. Swimming at the resort pools is reserved for guests of the resort, but there's a playground and an arcade. They could definitely have dinner with you at any of the restaurants.

We are back from our trip to Florida. And I wanted to thank lovethattink, claire&theboys and any others who answered questions while I was away to make my life easier when I got back. :goodvibes

And to all of those who recently came back and posted a review, we appreciate your offering your opinion. Whether a good or bad review, it is always helpful to those planning a trip.
