Was just reading the latest All Ears Newsletter & it said as of April 16, CSR guests staying in Casitas 1 receive Free WiFi Internet Service. It's part of a Pilot program. Just thought it would be helpful for anyone who is going to be staying in Casitas 1.

Thanks, Dina. That is very interesting to know.

Ok....not sure if I will post this in the right section but....of course we are staying at CSR!! But my question is.....we have breakfast ADRs at the GF and the Poly.....is the best way to catch the bus to MK and hop on the monorail or take the resort buses?? Will be new to this transfer to park bus then resort.

Would Casitas building 1 be preferred rooms?

I would take the boat launch from MK to the resorts. After you get off the bus, head towards the gate, then off to the left, on the water, are several docks. Just find the one headed to GF/Poly. Last time I took this launch, the same boat serviced both resorts, stopping first at GF. It was a quick ride and nice change from the buses.

I'm wondering if you have to be staying in Casitas 1, or if any guest could take a walk in that area and hook up.

I'll give it a try in 31 days!

My family will be staying at CRS next month. This will be our first time at this resort. I'm a little worried because everyone says the resort is so big. I'm going to try to request a location that is close to the parking lot as well as the big pool. Just by looking at the map I can't decide. Any suggestions? TIA!

Honestly, I think all the hype over CSR being "so big" is way overstated. I really don't think it's *that* large. I mean, yes, it's not as small as, say, POFQ, which only has about 7 buildings. But I don't think it's humongous.

I think all the buildings have close proximity to parking lots. We've never been far from one and since I never spring for the water-view, we often face the parking lots and it doesn't bother me. To me, that means I'm close to a bus-stop because the bus-stops are on the loop road around the resort, with the parking lots between the road and the buildings. If you aren't concerned about being close to El Centro, Ranchos are close to the Dig Site pool area, as are Cabanas 8A and 8B. If you were going to put a room request on your reservation, I'd pick the item that mattered most to you, like "close to the main pool" and I feel certain your room will not be far from parking, either.

Hope you have a great trip!

Exactly where at CSR is the lion-head fountain?

I've seen it many times in photos, but didn't catch it when we stayed at CSR in 1999. I think it looks so cool, I want to see it in person.

I'm pretty certain that it's in one of the Casitas building courtyards. Anyone know which number building?

I forgot about the boats! my 12 year old would probably prefer this route! Thank you!!!:goodvibes

Any clue on how big the International Food Truck Driving Championship will be? That is when we are there.

I just found this and hope it helps. http://www.ifdaonline.org/webarticles/anmviewer.asp?a=601&z=37

I think they have been there before when we have and we've had no issues. We arrive on the 25th of September.

Thanks

That doesn't seem so bad. Seems like we will have lots of tractor trailers though in the parking lots.

We are there from Sep 23-27. DD will be there as part of the college program and we will see her as well as celebrating my birthday.

We use the main address for our Garmin. It's 1000 West Buena Vista Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL. I think we've even gone to "points of interest" and typed Coronado Springs Resort and it's come up, but I may be mistaken on that.

ETA: I see you're from my neck of the woods. Howdy, neighbor! After you get on the Turnpike, get off at Exit 267A, for toll road 429. It's only about $1 or $1.50 toll and worth every single penny. When you get off at Exit 8 (which is only about 14 miles) and turn towards Disney World, you'll go a little ways and then under the Welcome To WDW arch, and a bit later, CSR will be on your left. Turn left at the light and turn left into CSR's main entrance. It's so fast!!

Awesome! We are going to try and plan a DIS meet at the pool one day while I am there and hopefully you can stop by. Watch this thread and I'll post a link of when the DIS meet is. :)

If you go to the Mousesavers website, you can download Disney specific maps for the Garmin. Then just search it for Coronado Springs. (She gives directions on how to download it, upload it to the Garmin, and how to use it!)

I'm back! We got back last night for a fabulous week at the Coronado Springs and I have to say that while there is no place like home, I am missing Disney this morning...so much so that I've already priced out a package to surprise the kids again by going back between Christmas and New Year's! We'll see what happens, but for now I'll just say that our stay was wonderful and CSR was beautiful.

We checked in around midday on Saturday the 16th and our room wasn't ready, but the Castmember who was helping me found a room in Cabana 8B that was ready (and which I think was actually an even better location than we were going to have originally) so he moved us and told us how to find our new home. We were in room 8609, which is on the second floor and about 50 feet from the elevator - far enough away that we didn't hear it, but close enough that it was convenient. We had a water view room, and were it not for the heavy palm fronds we might have actually seen the water, but I'm not complaining. We only had neighbors our first night, and otherwise the rooms on either side of us were empty.

We met our Mousekeeper, the fabulous Imma, within a few minutes of check-in when I realized we needed more towels. I had just seen her around the corner, so I ran over and asked if I could take some. She loaded me up, gave me extra shampoo and asked what else she could do for me. So sweet! She took amazing care of us every day. Though we had no towel animals, she arranged the boys' stuffed animals on the second bed daily, lined up the jumble of shoes, even made the toddler bed that we set up in front of the door to the adjoining room. Imma was awesome, and took such good care of us.

We were convenient to the Dig Site, and almost directly across the lake from El Centro, which was fine. It was about a 5 minute walk that either my husband or I took each morning with our refillable mugs (a must-buy!) for coffee and Diet Coke. Those few minutes of walking were actually wonderful - at 6:15 its quiet and peaceful, just the grounds crew and the odd jogger out there, and it was so nice to watch it grow lighter and the day to emerge.

The grounds are truly spectacular. I love landscaping and gardening, and enjoyed seeing how lush everything was, and cleverly planned.

There was a convention there during our stay but we really only saw them one night, when they had a dinner on the beach in the Cabanas area.

The staff, overall, was great. My only problem at all was yesterday morning when we were leaving. We had the car loaded and were doing a last check when they finally brought the checkout tag to hang on the doorknob. I found a charge on there that i couldn't explain and so I decided to ask at the front desk when we stopped one last time at El Centro to fill up our mugs one last time for the drive. There I encountered not one but two completely useless desk staff who not only weren't able to tell me what the charge was for, but didn't seem to care. The woman, Marta, actually shrugged and pointed to the phone number at the bottom of the bill and told me to call them if I really needed to know. What the heck? Needless to say, I plan on writing a letter of complaint about those two.

Otherwise, it was a fantastic week. It was quite busy due to being spring break, but the weather was perfect and the crowds were manageable by going into the parks early, then leaving around lunchtime to have some pool time before our dinner reservations or whatever else we had planned for the evening.

I think my boys will be heartbroken to learn that by the time we go back (perhaps for Christmas??) that our youngest will be over the magic age where he doesn't 'count' and therefore we won't be able to stay at Coronado again without needing a second room - which would blow the budget. But it was wonderful for this trip and I highly recommend it!
