Buzz sent over this info from Mousesavers.com about cake ordering:

Special Occasion Cakes
Prices listed below are subject to change at any time.
You can order special cakes for delivery to your resort room or to be served after your meal at a Walt Disney World restaurant.
• Small decorated cakes (6"-8", serves 4-8 people) in chocolate or vanilla can be delivered to your room at any of the Disney Deluxe Resorts. The cost starts at $25 plus tax. The Grand Floridian offers more elaborate cakes at higher prices. Simply call In-Room Dining (room service) from your room phone after arrival.
• Small non-personalized decorated cakes (6", serves 4-6 people) can be arranged on arrival at all Disney World resort table-service restaurants. Simply ask when you check in at the podium. The cost is $25 plus tax.
• Personalized decorated cakes can be preordered to be served after your meal at most Disney World resort table-service restaurants. The cost is $25 plus tax for a 6" cake (serves 4), $30 plus tax for an 8" cake (serves about 8) or $45 plus tax for a 10" cake (serves about 16). Call (407) 827-2253 to make arrangements at least 48 hours in advance.
• For those with food allergies/restrictions, BabyCakes NYC in Downtown Disney (which offers vegan, gluten-free, wheat-free, soy-free, sugar-free, egg-free, casein-free and Kosher items) can deliver a 6-inch cake that serves 8-10 people to Walt Disney World restaurants. First, book an Advance Dining Reservation (ADR) at a Walt Disney World restaurant. Then call the bakery at (407) 938-9044 at least 7 days in advance and provide the ADR confirmation number, date and reservation time.
Hint: if you will have access to a car, order and pick up a decorated cake from Publix supermarket. The quality is excellent and the prices are much better than Disney's. They even have some Disney cake designs.

Lurkyloo and Tricia1972 have a thread on the restaurants board with more info and wonderful pictures:

Hello -

We usually stay at the WL but we are trying to decide if we want something different.

I have some questions :

We like to go to a park early and come back to play at the pool before going out to dinner - be it a character meal or something that requires an ADR. Staying at the WL was very useful in this situation. The boat and monorail to boat proved very convenient for quicker comings and goings.

If we stayed at CSR what are the buses like to MK? Epcot? HS? AK? How long of a ride is it and does this resort share the bus with other resorts?

We are planning a late October 2012 return to the Kingdom.

Just want to be sure that you are aware that Pepper Market is now a buffet (breakfast and lunch) and no food can be taken out of there. There is another small CS (i can not remember the name), but hot foods are very limited. They do have a lot of muffins and fruit and that sort of thing if that works for you.

Thank you! We don't usually get big breakfasts to go so Cafe Rix looks like it will suit our needs. Usually my mom likes to refill her mug and pick up some fruit and milk since we typically bring our own cereal for breakfast. And I know one morning I'm heading to Sleep Hollow for a fruit and nutella waffle :)

Have not ordered a cake at CSR - have you checked the cake thread on the restaurants board? I wonder if you could get the Boardwalk Bakery to deliver to Kouzzina? I know they do the mini cakes - there are lots of pictures on the cake thread.

I know Kathy (KatMark) gets a massage just about every trip to CSR and has posted that she really enjoys them. I don't know how early she books, though. Maybe she will pop in here with the answer - I'll see if I can find something in her old posts.

Thank you for all the info! Maybe I will just order the $20 cake from CSR. My trip is a little less than 3 weeks out. So, I'll probably call tomorrow to make reservations! :goodvibes

CSR does not share buses with any other resort, and the bus service is usually excellent.

CSR Proximity to Parks:

Hollywood Studios - Bus Stop 6 (1st bus stop in row at DHS) - 6 min ride once leaving resort
AK - Bus Stop 8 (middle of the row) - 6 min ride once leaving resort
MK - Bus Stop 15 (on the right, a few stops down from the beginning) - 10 min ride once leaving resort
Epcot - Bus Stop 7 (2nd bus stop in row at Epcot) - 7 min ride once leaving resort
BB - Bus Stop 6 (middle of the row) - 3 min ride once leaving resort

And may I say, those times are better than some Deluxe resorts I have ridden from to another location.

We are going 5/27-6/2 for the first time to CSR (can't wait!). I requested the Cabanas section, since it is supposed to be closer to The Dig Site pool. Apparently all of the buses lead to El Centro, so it's recommended to take the bus there if your walk will be long. From everything I've read, Cabanas is the recommended area for famiiles with kids.

Looks like we will be there at the same time!! We arrive on the 26th. It is our first stay here. I have not requested anything. I have come to find that with my kids getting older swimming doesn't really appeal to them and we don't ever eat in the food courts. We like to eat in the parks and downtown disney. Here's hoping you get what you want!!!:thumbsup2

Hi everyone!

Some family and I will be traveling back to WDW in October and are going to be staying at CSR for the first time! I have a question that I'm hoping someone may have some insight on. We are a fairly large party (4 adults and 3 children), and so we are going to book two rooms. I'm assuming we will just have to request adjoining or rooms nearby and they wont be able to guarantee that. To make it more complicated, the rooms will be booked under 2 different names and will be coming from 2 different places and in different ways! Has anyone had any experience with this type of situation or any tips? Thanks!:goodvibes

Just when I was sure there would be no trip for the family this year- next thing you know, I have a week booked at CSR! I couldn't pass it up after doing the math w/ the free dining offer. We LOVE CSR! I'll be doing a quick weekend trip with my sister at Beach Club this June- I hope the deluxe doesn't spoil me ;). We'll be at CSR the last week of August. I'm a little nervous about the convention being held there that week, but I'm hoping it's like our previous CSR stays- we didn't even notice the conventioners at all. I haven't been to Pepper Market since the change to buffet- I'm excited to try it out. It's still considered counter service, correct?

Yes, you can request rooms near each other. If you want rooms with a door in between, request connecting rooms, not adjoining rooms. If you just want them nearby, you can request adjoining. If you have both reservation numbers, I think you can link them together by calling Central Reservations.

We love the Beach Club, but we love CSR too! :goodvibes

Pepper Market is still counter service, even now that it is a buffet for breakfast and lunch. :cool1: Dinner is still a la carte.

Last year when we were at the Polynesian, we got stuck one night in our longhouse due to the pouring rain. It would be really nice to be able to walk to dinner during inclement weather without getting soaked! :) Does anyone know if the Casitas are all connected with a roof? I understand that they are "exterior corridors" but the google satellite of CSR appears to show a covered walk between the Casitas. Finally, if there is a covered walkway, do you know if this includes Casitas 4 and 5 (non-preferred)? Thanks!

Thanks so much! I will jot that down in my planning binder! Connecting rooms would be ideal but not as long as we can get them close by that would be fine! We're still waiting a little to book so hopefully things will work out! Thanks again!:goodvibes

Amen! Twice I have done split stays at AKL-CSR and CSR-YC. Both times I was really surprised at just how much better the buses were at CSR.

is a preferred room worth it for 56.00 for two nights?

Depends on where you want to be. I love the Cabanas and would be willing to pay more if I could be guaranteed that area, but since those are all standard rooms, there is no way I'd pay for a preferred room at CSR. All the preferred rooms are in Casitas 1, 2, and 3. The worst room I ever had was a King room on the top floor of Casitas 2, facing the parking lot. No elevator to get to it and lousy view. I couldn't believe they'd put a King room up there in what the CM's call 'No Man's Land'.:rotfl:

Not a guarantee by any means, but we checked in around 7am. No online check-in and there was NO ONE but us checking in. They were SOOO wonderful and got us the prefect room and it was ready by 7:30 AM!! It took her a few extra minutes to find the room she wanted us to have (a free upgrade) so she gave us a voucher for a taxi to get us to MK by rope drop!
They really are good and will do their best to help you out.

We are staying at Disney for our Honeymoon the first week of May and chose CSR :goodvibes When checking in, would it be kosher to inquire about an upgrade or do you think they would be apt to offer one considering it's our honeymoon?

We are getting SO excited and have found this thread to be very helpful!!! Thanks for that :cheer2:

Congratulations! :goodvibes Do you have it noted on your reservation that it is your honeymoon? They might upgrade you if it is noted and they have space available. If you ask at check-in, it is best to ask the cost to upgrade instead of asking for a free upgrade - they may or may not offer it for free at that point.

:welcome: to the DIS!

I searched the thread but couldn't find anything but is wi-fi free in the rooms? Is it adequate? I don't plan on bringing a laptop but both my daughter and I would like to use it on our iPhones. I am paranoid about going over the limit on my phone plan (I have AT&T) so I am just checking to see about wi-fi to see if I should upgrade my package before we leave.

We have never asked for an upgrade but rather ask the CM what the best room would be to fit our needs. We have received upgrades a couple of times. Just show your excitement to be at WDW but do not expect anything. It's a magical extra!

Not sure why, but we almost always ask for any free upgrades at other off site hotels (chains like Hilton etc), we get them about half the time and some other times at a minimal extra charge.
