26 days!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:
We are planning to meet KatMark at the pool on our last Sunday
I am happy to meet new people but I don't want my trip to end. :sad1:
Hope to meet some others too!!!

Thanks for the quick replies. All that was left was the "water view" rooms so I guess it really doesn't matter what view we get. Last year we stayed in Cabanas 8A and loved the location so I wanted to make sure it is possible to be in that area. We loved being close to bus stop 2 and the Dig site. I am going to submit a request and see what happens - I know it is only a request. ;)

Hey candy0730 we will be at CSR at the same time as you and are also going to request building 8a we might see you there. We have 3 children so if you hear our Aussie accent come say hellos:thumbsup2

Trying to decide if we should make ADRs for Maya Grill???

There will be two families with lots of kids (7,5,5,2,2)...planning on an afternoon at the pool after AK as long as the weather holds out for us and thought doing a dinner on site would be a good idea for that night. Looks like some of the reviews mention how quiet the restaurant is and we wouldn't want to ruin anyone's evening :rotfl2:

Thoughts???

I'd probably go ahead and make an ADR. You can always cancel. Saying that, I got in as a walk up last Oct and again this past Dec. In Oct I was solo, but in Dec there were three of us. Both times I was tired and just didn't feel like getting on a bus to go to my scheduled ADR. Right after we were told they could seat us in Dec, we saw a party of six turned away.:confused3

Hi Kyl, I will definately say hello. We will be a party of 3 with one very loud talking 5 year old. :lmao:

Can't wait to get there!

Can't wait for my trip in 42 days! The only room request I made was that our king rooms be adjoining and on the first floor. I wonder what section we will be put in?

We will be flying down for the first time (we usually drive) and now I have the pleasure of trying to cut down the amount of stuff I usually pack for the trip! We are flying Southwest so luckly we can check two bags each but I am aiming for just one bag each. Any packing tips?

Can't wait! :cool1:

Hi there! Have you planned any "down" time at the resort (swimming and such)? If so, you might want to think about doing a load of laundry so that way you don't have to pack as many clothes. I'm still back and forth on the idea b/c I hate laundry but I also don't want to come home to a big pile of laundry right after vacation. Also making a list and I've heard and I might try it this time, that if you pack your clothes in large ziploc bags its easier to keep them organized.

Not me...not doing laundry on our vacation. I took an extra day off of work to get caught up when we get home.

I agree!!! I'm there to have fun too...not do chores. :thumbsup2

BTW, in regards to my earlier posts, I did order one case of water from Costco...I figured even with the extra charge tacked on it would still be cheaper than buying water at the resort. Once my SIL shows up with her car we'll ask if we can use it to grab a couple cases more at the Hess station. We're from the Pacific Northwest and the hot, humid weather really takes it's toll on us...lots of H2O is a must!!!

We always do laundry at WDW. Because we travel during hot months, we often go through 2 outfits each per day, and that'll go through a suitcase full of clothes quickly!

Doing laundry at WDW is easy. The laundry rooms are right near the pools, so you can swim/relax/enjoy a drink or snack while the laundry is being done. We'll be doing at least 1 load of laundry (but probably 2 loads) on our upcoming trip.

31 days until CSR for us! We'll be saying "Hi!" at the Sat. 9/18 meet-up! If we're doing laundry (LOL), we'll stop by for a quick hello because we'll probably be hanging out at the quiet pool/laundry room closest to our room, but if we're not doing laundry then we'll be hanging out at the Dig Site that afternoon. I can't wait!!! :woohoo:

That's a good idea if your relaxing by the pool. What is the temperature down in FL during late Sept?

Last time we went, we went the last week of Oct. and the weather was very nice except for record cold nights in the 40s. LOL

I've found Sept. to be every bit as hot and humid as August. We did have 1 cool Sept. day when a tropical storm was passing through (it rained like crazy) but otherwise our Sept. trips have been as hot as summer trips.

To start:
I am excited to be planning a first-time trip for my DH and I! :woohoo: I wasn't sure about CS because the Spanish theming wasn't really our thing, but we didn't want to stay at a value (was considering POP) because of the not-so-romantic atmosphere and deluxe is definitely not an option. So I read through the first forty and last sixty posts and have found the information posted here really helpful and encouraging! Thank you KatMark and to all of the posters for helping me make my decision!

Now on to the questions:
We aren't planning on going until May 2011 and my DH thinks it's too early too book? Any thoughts on this? We are planning to book standard to save money and crossing our fingers for a pixiedust: upgrade to king. Will the standard rooms fill up?

Also, by reading recent posts I see that 9A is being made "preferred" for 2011. This is  because that is where I was going to request our room; my DH really hates being in cars and on buses so stop 4 made the most sense (even an extra five minutes makes a huge difference with him), because he said he wouldn't mind waiting on the bus at the end of the day and we can always get off at El Centro and walk back. We also don't have children, so we would prefer to avoid the families staying around the dig site pool (this is not to say there is anything wrong with children, we just would prefer quiet). Can I request 8B close to the quiet pool? Is this a good idea to be close to stop 4 but still quiet? Any advice would be helpful!

Thanks again for all you do to help newbies like me!

First, welcome. And thatnk you for the very kind words. I am so delighted that you found the thread helpful--that makes it all worthwhile. :)

If you really want the CSR, I would book now. Because of the new rooms/queen beds, it is getting harder and harder to book. You can always change your ressie if a coede comes out, but at least this way you'll have something on the books.

Personally, I would ask for Casitas 4 or 5 -- this way you'd be close to that quiet pool and close to Bus Stop 2 which is the FIRST bus stop picked up (it only adds about five minutes to the trip around the resort before heading out to the parks). Otherwise, Cabanas 8A would be a great choice. As for which rooms that will be preferred, that is just rumor right now. That won't be announced until the 1st of the year.

Are all of the rooms at CSR updated with queen beds and flat screen tv's?
Do they have king beds adjoining to 2 queens?
I'm thinking about switching to CSR for our upcoming trip in December!

Yes, all of the rooms were updated with queen beds (or a new king bed) and flat screen televisions (they finished September of last year). Yes, there are rooms with 2 queen beds next to a room with one king bed. Adjoining rooms, however, are only a request, and not a guarantee.

Hi KatMark, thank you so much for all of the valuable infomation and great pictures.

I have been fasinated with CSR since it was built, but I have never stayed there! Every time I see the pictures it takes my breath away! When it was pretty new (1999) we sent my parents there for a couple days as a thank you for throwing our wedding for us. We stayed in POFQ that year, about a month before they went. When they came back they raved about it!

The next time we went I think I got talked out of it by the guide books that said POR was better, so we stayed there (and we liked it). People said CSR was too spread out, too business-oriented, etc. I shouldn't have listened.

The next trip we were only staying two nights (a side trip from visiting the in-laws) and got a great price on WL, so we tried that (and liked that too).

This last trip, I had CSR booked! At the last minute I switched to OKW because I heard the rooms were big, the place was quiet, and I knew my husband liked the idea of a balcony (and we were getting a great deal over rack rates). Probably you know where this is going because it ended up being very loud where we stayed (bus route) the room was really run down, and the beds were so hard that I had a terrible time sleeping. I kicked myself for making the change especially after I found out when I got home (this was Nov 2009) that CSR had just been renovated!

I am determined to stay at CSR for our trip in April. I will let nothing derail me this time. You have helped to cement this decision for me! I have a couple questions:

Can you tell me about the beds? I probably seem obsessed with this, but for the last couple years, I get very sore on my sides (and don't have much better luck on my back) when I sleep on a bed that is really hard. At home, a memory foam pad helps a lot with this, but ever since that OKW experience, I am sort of freaked out that I will get another "brick bed." I have actually done ok with the beds at the other resorts I have mentioned.

Next, we really like quiet, out-of-the-way places. (mainly not a lot of loud people walking by our room to get to their own.) What do you think about the Ranchos for this? I don't mind extra walking a bit. And we will have a car with us too which I assume can be parked relatively close. Do you know what bus noise is like back there? That is also my second new obsession after the OKW trip - I hadn't had a problem with that or thought about it in the past. (I think that trip has ruined me for life!:))

Thanks for anything you can share with me!
