I am sooooooo excited!!!! Just booked my first stay at CSR!!!!!! Can't wait!!! I booked online, saved $500.00 off of my original estimate!!!! :cool1:
They only had water view rooms available, and I couldn't request a building online.... I really want to be close to the main building and the main pool, what building should I ask for, and can I call (after the discount hubbub blows over and I can actually get through!) and ask them to note my request???? Thanks and keep the tips and pictures coming!!!!!!

When are you going? Beginning January 1, certain buildings will be "preferred" buildings and we are unsure which ones they will be. You could call and request Cabanas 8A or 8B or Casitas 4 or 5 (these most likely will NOT be preferred rooms). We've stayed in Casitas 4 or 5 a number of times and it takes me (over 50 years old) about five to six minutes to walk to the main building and about eight or nine minutes to the main pool (and that is walking at a normal pace).

We are going Jan. 17th....Wonder if they would swap out my "upgrade" the I paid for the waterview to cover my "prefered" room, if thats what I need?? Wishful thinking huh?? Hahaha!!!

Hi Kathy-

I wanted to call tonight to add the room request to my reservation. I think I wanted to request Casitas 3. The casitas section has the most appeal to us and you mention somewhere on the first page about it having great views. It looks like it would be pretty hard to get a view of the parking lot from there, am I correct? I don't really care about the walk to/from the bus stop. (We've stayed value.) Nor do I care about the walk to the Dig Site b/c of the pretty scenery to look at on the way. Is Casitas 3 where the convention guests usually stay, or is that 1? What are your thoughts?
:)

Hi, Rachael. We were in Casitas 3 back in 2008 and had a view of the lake and our friends had a view of the gardens. I really liked that area. To be honest, I haven't walked around the "back" of the buildings very often. I'm sure you could get a parking lot view at any of the buildings, but I think with Casitas 1 - 3, it might be less of a chance. Convention guests can stay in any of the buildings (Casitas, Ranchos or Cabanas)--it depends on how big the convention is, if they paid for Club Level, etc.

Thank you KatMark for your prompt reply to my last post about booking and rooms!

Now, with the release of the extended free dining dates for 2011, I am really confused about what to do! My confusion is bordering on panic! (I am also sure I'm not the only one:))

I can book from May 14th through the 22nd (our original plan) or move our trip to May 30th through June 8th (avoiding Memorial Day weekend) and save about $300 or upgrade to deluxe dining. I'm assuming Disney has included this weekend to encourage guests who come just for Memorial Day weekend to book longer stays. My DH is worried about the difference in crowds the week after Memorial Day and is willing to spend the extra money to stay mid-May if the difference in crowds is really that great.

Again, this is our first trip and I would love any advice on what to do! Are the crowds that much worse the week after Memorial Day than mid-May? Is it worth it to save money? HELP!

TIA

We are going in Dec. and have a water view. Where will we be? Also we asked for adjoining rooms with our friends does that make a difference?

Every building has water views, so there's no way to know.

Hi everyone! We are heading down to CSR in a month, and will be traveling with families for our first Grand Gathering, so excited! I thought I read on the message boards here that you can request a micro. for your room at no cost, I was just wondering if this is true or did i misunderstand the poster?

And how far in advance do you need to request one, we will be faxing in our room request about 4-5 days out and should we request a micro. at the same time?

TYIA for all your help.

So excited!!!! DH and I will be at CSR 11/10-11/14. We were blocked out of the free dining offer, but I was able to get a room only discount. We will use the money we saved to get tickets for MVMCP!:yay:

We have never been to CSR, and I am really looking forward to it. The pictures of the resort look beautiful! I requested Casitas. Was that a good choice?

Hi, Lori. You cannot request a microwave until you check in. They are on a first come, first served basis. You are correct--there is no charge.

Hi, Koda. Welcome to our little thread here. I find all of the sections of the CSR to be beautiful (we've not stayed in the Ranchos but we have requested them for this trip). We have stayed in the Casitas seven of our eight stays at the CSR and we love that area the most. I think you made a great choice.

OK, I know I'm on the CSR thread, but . . .

Can anyone compare CSR and POR for me? I'm booked at POR (never stayed there), stayed at CSR in a non-rehabbed room and loved it, and now second-guessing myself! CSR will be about $100 more than POR with the new AP rates that came out.

ARRRRGGGHH!!!

HELP!

Anyone been able to book a room late Oct/early Nov 2010? Seems like there is a conference or something could not get any rooms at CSR during that timeframe.

Officially booked our CSR stay to go on the end of our AKL DVC stay in Nov/Dec. King Bed, Dec 3-5. Only thing available for those dates, but it is what we wanted, so I'm happy. $122 per night with the AP rate that came out today. :)

Both are great!

We think of POR as our "home resort." We stay there every-other-trip (I like to try new resorts and mix it up a bit in between POR stays) and LOVE it! We're giving CSR a try next month, but today we are getting a quote for POR for our next summer because we like it there so much and want to return "home." :woohoo:

I don't think you can go wrong with either resort. I haven't stayed at CSR yet, but I am certain in many ways we'll enjoy it as much as we enjoy POR.

CSR pros: queen beds, fitness center, more of an adult atmosphere (if that's a pro for you), recently rehabbed rooms. I'm not going to list Pepper Market as a pro because it seems to be a love it or hate it food court. I will say it's probably a con if you're not on the DDP because of the high prices, but a pro if you are on the DDP.

POR pros: lovely atmosphere with a more shady pool, 2 themed pools because you share with POFQ, great food court, fun family entertainment at the River Roost on select nights, and boat transportation to DTD.

POFQ and POR are slated for rehabs within the next year, but AFAIK the start dates for rehabs have not been determined.

Both resorts are large and might require some walking if you get a room far from the food court, but both resorts have a pretty atmosphere.

I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

28 days until we try CSR for the first time! :woohoo:

Faxed my room request yesterday for check-in on Thursday morning...fingers crossed that it will have some pixie dust sprinkled on it! pixiedust:

Well, I called last night to add a room request to my reservation. I had a good laugh with the CM b/c when I said Casitas 3, she goes "I might need you to spell that out for me." and then I said "I don't even know if I'm pronouncing it right." I was going to request corner room but I think that I will just leave it as it is. Hopefully we will get our request but if not, it's okay. :)

I also added DH's graduation celebration to the res. and a few of our ADR's. He doesn't know about it so it will be a nice surprise. He deserves all the attention he can get for working full time and going to grad. school and maintaining a 4.0 GPA. :thumbsup2 He'll be graduating it early December this year so just 2 months after our trip. :goodvibes

I think you will be fine at POR. Although we've not stayed, we've visited several times and it really is a beautiful resort (and great food court). It is the only other moderate we would consider if we couldn't get CSR.

I think our secret is geting out. I went back and checked for the heck of it, and there is NO availibility for FD for my dates anymore at CSR. It appears to be the only moderate sold out for FD for that time period. I am so glad I was on the phone at 6 am yesterday to get it.
