Safe travels, Kathy...will be thinking of you and especialy the memories that will come tonight. :grouphug:

Ok, planning a mother/daughter trip for Oct 2011 for my mom's 55th birthday....complete surprise i can't wait to spring it on her...it's going to be difficult to keep my mouth shut until then!!!

I need all you dis experts to convince me on why CSR is the right resort for us...everything I have read I have loved but I need more...

possible room views.....food choices....pool and quiet pools....bus service.....anything i need to know please tell me! :woohoo:

I am no expert - I am sure Katmark will help when she gets back but we love CSR bcause it is not in your face disney.

It is beautiful and we personally like the walks around the lake. The buses do not share with any other resorts. We went spring break last year and although it was busy and we stood often (at opening and closing only). We were situated in Ranchos 7B right outside of the quiet pool my children loved the quiet pool. They liked the fact they were often the only ones in there.

As I have read in this thread the pepper market (CSR CS meals) is either loved or hated. We loved it last year but I am dreading it this year if they don't still do the buffalo wings:lmao:

Maybe by bumping this someone can give you more information.
Have a wonderful trip

Here are some :goodvibes coming to you from CT, Kathy! Hope your weekend went well and your son is lucky to have such a proud mom.

Hi, everyone. We are back...busy weekend. Dubuque Friday night for last home dual/Parents Night (Markie did not wrestle which we knew...they want him to get as healthy as he can for conference championships on the 16th...if he places top three he will go to Nationals; if he does not, his career will be over, but he will then coach at the college next year while being a student and then he will coach at the high school when he comes homes; whatever happens, we couldn't be more proud of him).

Thanks for all the warm wishes. Here is a picture of Markie with us from Friday night.

Well, after spending the last several days combing through all the various threads, blogs, photos, etc., I think we are leaning towards Casitas 4 as our home for the week of April 22-30. It's close to a quiet pool and a bus stop, and we really like the decor. I'll be faxing my request in a week before we leave. We're already booked in a water view room, so I understand that could mean views of the lake, pool or fountain. Either way, we're looking forward to a fantastic vacation.

That's a terrific picture Kathy! Glad you got to be there & you made it home safe & sound. Sending best wishes for Mark's future success! :woohoo: How awesome that he can continue doing what he loves so much.

:banana:I have been reading for some time and just joined. We will be staying at Coronado from March 7 - 14 and are so excited. This is our first time for WDW and my first time ever to the States. We are from Canada.
I was showing my 11 year old pictures and asked where she would like to stay in the resort. We all prefer Casitas, but just found out there will be three conventions while we are there...<sigh>

If we request Casistas can anyone recommmend which building? I think I read that part is heavily convention, but we don't want to be bombarded with them. Maybe an equal distance to El Centro and Dig Site/Main Pool.

No matter what building we have been in, we have never been bothered by the convention guests and we've been in Casitas 1, 3, 4 and 5. Casitas 4 and 5 are our favorites -- close to the quiet pool and the fitness center/spa and about a five minute walk to the main building and eight or so minutes to the main pool.

Last year in March my DH and I took our 5 and 7 year old girls to CSR. We stayed in Cabana 8A. It was fantastic! Not too far from the main buildings and really close to the Dig Site.

I'm sure your girls will love it. Mine enjoyed the Spanish theme and danced around to the music all week. They loved getting our PM food to go and sitting out by the water. We saw an Alligator the first day and the rest of the trip they were on the lookout.

I'm sure no matter where you stay you'll have a great time!

Unfortunately, our bed was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in at any hotel in our lives; no kidding;

 I'll have to agree with that!

We're back from our first ever stay at CSR! It was a completely unplanned weekend away and this was the only thing (not deluxe) showing available for when I booked. It was standard and we were in Ranchos, 6A. I thought it was a pretty nice building. Even though the resort seems huge, we didn't find it took very long at all to walk anywhere. We do walk a lot anyway, so maybe it was just us.

Unfortunately, I wasn't all that impressed with CSR. People were smoking absolutely everywhere on the property! I saw several beer bottles thrown in the grass, too! There was someone cleaning up a lot of garbage along the water, so at least they were working on it. I was shocked to see the grounds in worse shape than the values are! The pump at the pool with the pyramid was broken yesterday morning, so the water wasn't flowing down into the pool. That was disappointing, even though it was way too cold for us to swim.

Since we're usually POP people, this room size was a nice. I also loved the separate area to get dressed when I couldn't sleep in the super duper early morning without waking the baby. The PP was on with the beds being pretty uncomfortable! We also had issues with noise, and the guests next door must've loved their television LOUD. I called about it and was immediately asked if we wanted to switch rooms. When I said we'd be checking out too soon to bother, he said someone would be stopping over to take care of it. No one ever did though. :sad1: I didn't sleep much at all saturday night!

It was nice to try a different resort, but we wouldn't go back. The theme reminds me too much of everything here in St Pete! When we first drove up to the Ranchos buildings, I immediately thought of a few of the cheaper motels & apartment communities you'll find here. I didn't feel like I was still in Disney. If you're from somewhere up north, it could be nifty and different though. :)

Thought I'd share! :goodvibes

Stayed at CSR Jan 17-24; arrived 12:30 am on 1/17; had requested ground floor first, then cabanas 9B; we were assigned casitas 2445; 4th floor on bldg 2; remembered fm the board that elevator only went to 3rd floor and then still a hassle to get to stairs to 4th floor; am 55+ with bad knee and lots of luggage; no way I said to the CM; he went in the back for a while and came back w/casitas bldg 1, rm 1117; much better. The funny thing was that we had a happy anniversary card fm staff in our packet; the room # on the envelope said 1116, so they must have assigned 1116 and then changed our room. Resort was beautiful; weather was great; highly recommend Cafe Rix; good food and prices. Unfortunately, our bed was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in at any hotel in our lives; no kidding; and our door did not always lock; it was unlocked when we arrived at 1 am; reported the lock problem, but it was not fixed; sometimes we had to fiddle w/lock & key for 5 minutes before it would lock; mousekeeper said they were having problems. Was worried about crowds over MLK holiday; no worries; were only ones on bus many times; most on bus were 16. Couldn't get dining ressies where we wanted online, but had no problem just walking up. Except for the horrible bed, it was a great trip ... Mickey is always a good host!

Thanks for the review. You are the FIRST person who has indicated that they found the new beds uncomfortable. I'm sorry that they were for you, but glad that you had a great trip despite the bed. :)

Sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Unfortunately, some of the things you complained about -- smoking, trash in the grass, happens at every resort on the grounds and in the rooms (we've experienced it during our stays at the Contemporary and the All Star Sports). I'm sorry the resort wasn't for you, but glad you gave it a try. This is what is so great about Disney--there is a resort for everyone's tastes, expectations, etc.

Are you sure you are talking about the CSR? :confused3

We will be there at the exact same time! This is our first trip there as well. I didn't realize there was conventions planned there, is there an updated list somewhere?

Hi,

I found the convention list on Buzz2001's page on another part of the DIS boards. Go to forums, resort photos and there is one in there about CSR pictures.

If you click on Buzz's name there is a page he runs and all the convention info is in there.

There are 3 for the times we are there...

Unfortunately I cannot copy over to here...Maybe a long timer will know how.

On the first and second page of this thread, there is a list of conventions that I have been made aware of. Please note that this is in NO WAY a complete list. This was compiled by a former DIS member and from emails, notifications, and research.

If you link that page here, it will be deleted as he is no longer a member of the DIS. I will try to work on an update list if I can.

I also thought the CSR beds were so comfy! Our bed at AKL last month was terrible, though. Funny how two different people can experience the same thing with totally different impressions.
