Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- November 2009

I've only gotten through the 1st 17 pages of this thread & learned a wealth of information!

Couple of questions:

1) Can you hook a DVD player in to the TV's at CSR to watch your own movies? We just stayed at a Hampton Inn in AL and they had this feature blocked for "security" (i.e. so we'd would pay for their PPV movies)

2) We're going Apr 30-May 8 . . . anyone know what this crowd level will be like compared to late Sept. Our last trip was Sept '08 & we didn't wait more than 5 minutes to ride ANYTHING (we did rope drop every day & followed the Tour Guide Mike plans) so hoping for the same experience.

3) We're using Wednesday as our "rest / pool day" . . . DK's are 6 & 4 . . . should we go to Boma or T-Rex for dinner? We're more in to good food than atmosphere . . . except when it comes to character meals.

T-Rex is so much fun! I definitely suggest trying it. The food is very good. Your kids will love the decor. Heck, I'm 51 and my daughter is 15 and we were so disappointed that it was unavailable for our last trip. We were able to get reservations for our April trip though!!!!

So there are no preferred rooms like in the value resorts? You can't pay a little more to be closer to the el centro (sorry if that is incorrect...pulling from memory...). We stayed at ASmovies Herbie Love Bug section, When you want to refill the soda mug it's a bit of a walk..especially after a long day with 2 strollers and 2 kids. So I want to get something close to where we can get our refills, and close to a bus stop. I am torn though. The Cabanas are stuck in my mind as the best, but Casitas would be the 'first' bus stop which is def appealing. Any ideas or suggestions on this?

hey everyone! my boyfriend and I just got back from CSR. We were there Jan 5-12.

We did not use the online check-in. Luckily there was no line when we arrived..check-in was smooth and took about 10 minutes and our room was ready right then! (10am)

We stayed in the Ranchos section..building 7A, room 7222 in a king bedroom. The bed was SUPER comfortable; we snoozed an hour extra everyday because it was so hard to get up! (doesn't help that we were in the parks from morning to close, haha)

The location was perfect for us since we did not need to go to El Centro at all during the entire stay. We had breakfast in the parks or saved the dessert (fruit, yogurt, etc) that we got from the previous days counter service for breakfast. The Ranchos is just as advertised on the thread; pretty isolated..calm and quiet but we loved that! We were about a minute walk from the dig site..which was closed to the public when we went to check it out on our last day on our way to use the voucher we got for the arcade. They had a fence around the whole area; I'm not sure when they put the fence up since it was open when we arrived and we did not walk around the resort until that last day..However, it wasn't like we were going to use it since the weather was quite chilly the whole week! mid 30s-40s..luckily for those traveling soon, the weather is warming up..it was 55 degrees when we were leaving hollywood studios on the last day :(

We were literally 25 seconds from the 3rd bus stop which was fantastic. The bus service was very consistent..We did not wait more than 10 minutes for a bus with 1 exception. On the last day, we waited about 25 minutes for a bus to hollywood studios..however I must mention that there were 2 MK, 1 DTD, 2 AK and 2 Epcot buses that passed in that time period..so it wasn't bad for everyone else except for those of us waiting for hollywood studios! ;)

No experience with the housekeeping since we kept the privacy sign on the door the entire time..we made our own beds and didn't need more than the 4 towels provided for the 2 of us for the week. We figured we'd save them from having to clean one extra room! :cool2:

Here is the only picture we were able to get of CSR on our last night; we couldn't believe how great it came out! :lovestruc:lovestruc

As for the rest of our trip, everything was absolutely fantastic. our ADRs at Biergarten, Coral Reef, California Grill (window view of Wishes!!), Ohana, Boma and Kouzzina were fantastic choices as we loved every single one of them! We also saw Cirque Du Soleil which we highly highly recommend. The show is approximately 1 1/2 hours and every aspect of the show was executed so well and left me wanting more!

can't wait to start planning our next disney vacation!! feeling withdrawal already.. :sad2:

No, there are no preferred rooms at the CSR (I know the CBR has them, but I believe that is the only moderate that does).

We like Casitas 4 and 5 and it is not more than a five to six minute walk to the main building (El Centro). When coming back from the parks, you can get off at Bus Stop 1 (the last one dropped off), get your sodas refilled and then walk to your room. We've done the Casitas seven of our eight stays; the eighth stay this past September we were in the Cabanas. Personally, we prefer the Casitas theme.

Glad you had a marvelous trip. I LOVE the picture--it is absolutely awesome. Thank you so much for sharing. :)

So I am just doing some figuring out. When we stayed at ASmo, Herbie section, all I remember is dh not being happy because it was so far from everything. but from what I can tell, even in the casitas and cabanas, it's about .16 miles...which from what I can tell is about what the Herbie section was. I def won't sell dh to spend more $$ on a resort where he has to do as much walking. He's not lazy, just full days with 2 kids in the parks. It's tiring. that and he already loves the value and their prices. :confused3 hmmm....:surfweb:

Eight more months until CSR! :dance3:

Which resorts share the Magical Express bus with CSR? Is CSR typically the first, middle or last dropped off?

2 days till we arrive at CSR.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Have a magical time.

We never use ME (we rent a car) so I really can't answer this. I do know I've read in the past that they've also gone to the AKL? Hopefully someone who used it recently can tell you for sure.

I'm officially on board. We just booked our first WDW trip for April and we decided to staying at CSR because of this thread. Thank you to all who have put in the time and effort for the rest of us to learn from. We cannot wait for our vacation. Again, thanks.

Welcome, neighboring State of Indiana! Glad you are here. If you have any questions, post away...someone is always willing to help out here.

See you there! Our trip is May1-9 :)

Hi Ela1972, I was under the impression that there isn't a lot of time for baggage claim after your flight lands and before your ME leaves...I don't know where i got that idea, but did you find it pretty easy to get your luggage and bring with? I'd rather do that too since we won't be landing until later at night. Thanks!

We collected our bags went to the ME desk and were assigned a bus. We weren't given an actual time of a bus to get on. There seem to be a lot of buses and they leave very regularily. You only have to make an actual bus on your way back to the airport. Hope that this helps.

fantastic thread :) im about 3 pages in but i just wanted to say thanks!

ok, off to finish reading the other 34,875,439 posts in it now ;)
