I am really worried about the buses after reading DJFan88. Should I be thinking of going to CBR.....oh we only have 3 weeks left and I am so confused as to what to do. As we are travelling so far away from Australia with three children I would hate to wait for buses for longer than needed. Jet lagged kids can not be patient at times!

No - but you may want to think about requesting something in Casitas over by the Casita Bus stop. It picks up first and is relatively close to El Centro. Follow it up with a fax which there is a sample of in this thread.

While I feel very bad for DJFan88 and what she and her family had to deal with on the buses, that is not the normal for CSR as most people who have visited CSR a number of times have posted. You can have bad bus service at any resort and there have been complaints at every resort from value to deluxe. I would suggest you do as DJFan88 suggested...ask for a room in the Casitas closer to Bus Stop 2 which is the first bus stop picked up. If you are still leary, then see if you can switch to the CBR if that is what you are more comfortable doing.

I have request cabanas 8a as I thought this would be good for the kids near the dig site and near a bus stop. Oh what to do????

We always ask for Casitas 4 or 5 -- close to Bus Stop 2. It takes me, at age 52, five minutes to walk to the main building and about eight minutes to the main pool.

I think you are right KatMak, as I have looked at other reviews and they say that CBR is so spread out and that they do not have enough buses to cope with the number of customers staying there? Every resort has its ups and downs. I guess if we are not happy with the buses could I aske to switch resorts when there? We are staying for two weeks and it would be a long two weeks if the buses are not up to scratch. Any advice?

We would be walking to the dig pool more than the bus stop. Maybe I will stick with cabanas 8a and walk in the morning to the first bus stop? Any idea how long that would take. Could get my morning coffee as well maybe?

19 days to go!!! :woohoo:

With the online check in, is there a "close to transportation" request you can check for CSR?

We were in the corner room 7559 first floor and the pool was right outside our door. We arrived on Tuesday and there was a pile of about 12 empty shampoo bottles outside the room in the mulch 5 doors down that stayed there till friday.

There was just a lot of empty wrappers, beer cans, ect laying around.
Regarding the housekeeping, I never had a problem at CBR or POP maybe we just picked a bad week. :)

I suspect it was just a bad week. I can see how the resort could be beautiful.

We just got back on Monday. We were in the Cabanas. We started off in the Rancheros but did not have our water view so they moved us...no problems there.

The resort was a mess. Trash in the water, our room was dirty and our shower curtain did not go all the way to the wall so we had to block the water with our ponchos. :rotfl2:

I think my biggest complaint was that mouskeeping put damp sheets on the beds. At first I thought it might just be because of the high humidity level, but after the first night I left a note to not change the sheets and I didn't have any more problems with dampness.

I don't want to imply that I was unhappy with my stay. As I said, I think the resort was just having a bad week. It happens, and we are not really clean freaks anyway :rotfl:. I will probably give it another chance. The pool made it all worth it anyway. Probably one of the top 3 pools. That slide is a blast!!!

o.k now I am worried again this is yet another bad review??? What is going on at CSR???? I hope someone will read this from management in disney and get onto it. I mean it looks like a beautiful resort, wet sheets!!!! Yikes that is just not on I don't care were you stay value to deluxe. Trash in the water? What the...... we are paying so much to visit in a few weeks by the time we pay airfare from Australia and now I am thinking why?????????????????????????

:confused3
Oh, no...bad bus service, wet sheet, trash around...should I rethink. I'm worried also b/c I convience my husband going to a Moderate would not be bad.

I can't tell you what to do. In eight stays, we have never had any of these problems at the CSR. In fact, I have always pointed out to my DH, how immaculate the grounds are. A good friend here on the DIS who has stayed at both the CSR and the CBR, preferred the CSR. While he was at the CBR in April, there was a large bag of trash, from the maids, left two doors down from their room for three days. These things happen.

The worse thing we have had happen to us a the CSR was a light bulb out for two days. We had worse issues at the Contemporary with a non-working toilet (for 12 hours), a dripping faucet our entire stay, and crumbs never vacummed up. It can and does happen at every resort.

You will need to go with your heart and make a decision.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I did tell my husband the reviews and he reminds me when we stayed at GF (we had bad bus experience) and water was turned off for 6 hours (a pipe broke in the building we were staying)...things happened but I did not let it ruin our trip. Then at AKL we had the worst bus too (50 min wait to MK and DTD bus never came when we waited over 45 mins). I guess I'm just second guessing.

Maybe 5 minutes? We walked to the front from 8B each day and it didn't take long

Please don't let what I posted sway you. What I posted was the ONLY problems we had, and I really didn't consider them problems just observations. Wasn't enough to make me leave or even complain..okay maybe the sheets. :rotfl:

I agree with others that the bus service was SLOW last week. I think that is not the norm though. Last week the resort was booked solid so it is really not a good week to judge.

I haven't stayed at CSR yet, but consider POR our home resort and that's a moderate resort. Issues such as mousekeeping are hit-and-miss at any resort, whether you're at All Star Movies or the GF. Bus issues can be hit-or-miss, too. At least CSR has its own bus system and doesn't share with other resorts.

I hope that your trip is fantastic and issue free. Your dh will likely appreciate the atmosphere and recently rehabbed rooms at CSR, and your trip will likely be a good one. : )

Thank you for your kind words. I know that mousekeeping is a hit or miss like any other hotel chain (we just got back from a trip from Marriott Marquis Atlanta and one day we had an amazing housekeeping then the last 2 days was horrible).
I like the idea of the resort having its own bus system.;)

What to do? Relax. I have gone thru this planning our trip, switched resorts 3 times and have now decided that no matter which one I decide on there is going to be 10 people say it was terriable and another 10 say they love it. I have 3 little ones and personally the queen beds seal the deal. they can all sleep in one bed or there will be room in ours if need be. Above all have fun and be flexable, if you get stuck at a bus stop carry something to do like a chapter book you can read to them or have in mind some I spy games, or use the extra time to talk to engage them in talking. Have fun and maybe we will see you at the dig site. we should be there at the same time. If all else fails maybe the kids make new friends at the bus stop ;)

O.K so now I have calmed down.....I guess you read good and bad about every resort. It just looks so nice in the photos that rubbish around the place etc doesn't fit into what I imagine the resort to be like. We were booked into pop at first then after reading some bad reviews decided to up grade to moderate. The CM on the phone told me CSR was by far the best moderate so thats why we booked here. I can't now say to my DH oh by the way I need a couple more thousand so we can stay deluxe! As we need two rooms for the six of us staying 14nights it gets expensive. Especially given our dollar is 85cents to yours. I think I need to stop reading and just start counting....yeah right as if I will stop reading!!!!

Oh thanks goldena003. What section do you think you will stay at? It would be great for the kids to have other children to play with at the dig site:thumbsup2 We will be there from the 20th, but very very early and after 24hrs of flying. So we most likely won't be up until later that afternoon. Hope to see you around. Thanks for your advice:lovestruc

Don't let a couple of bad reviews throw you. Just look at this thread there have been over 3000 posts and the great majority have been postive. There were 5 CSR threads before this one with as many posts and again there were only a few bad reviews out of the thousands of good ones. Every resort AT Disney or anywhere for that matter can have a glitch every once in a great while.
As for the wet sheets, I'll share this. I was going to change my bed linen and grabbed some freshly laundered sheets from the dryer. They had that nice warmness. I made the bed. Later that night, I went to turn down the bed and the sheets were wet! Apparently the sheets were so warm from the dryer that I couldn't feel they were still damp when I made the bed. Believe me I love crawling into my nicely made bed and I would never have purposely put damp sheets on it. This could hvae happened in the instance posted.

We will be arriving aprox 2pm on Sept 25 and leaving late on Oct 1. We have a water view and have requested 8a also. Looks like our kids are close in age 8, almost 5 and almost 3. We need to plan on catching up with each other at some point. Let me know
