We're staying at ASMu and my MIL and GMIL are coming to visit us while we're there.. unfortunately, MIL waited too long to book her room and could only get a room at Coronado Springs.

First.. will we be able to visit them and use their pool? They're older and less mobile, I want them to be able to relax at their resort while we visit.

Secondly.. my kids are 7, 5, 2, and <1. My older two are 44 inches. Will they not be able to use the playground?

Anything else you can tell me about what sort of things we could do at that resort while visiting them?

Thanks!

ETA: Is taking the bus to AK, then to CS the easiest way to get to CS? It looks like that's the closest park..

Pool hopping is not allowed. Pools are reserved for the use of the individual resort guests only (the only time pool hopping is allowed is if you are a DVC member or for sister resorts--POR/POFQ).

I have never seen them question the height of kids using the playground equipment for their height, etc. There is an arcade right next to the playground.

Have you checked to see what it might cost to upgrade to CSR yourself? We are doing this for our June trip and for 6 nights it really was not that bad.

As others have said they don't allow pool hopping so you won't be able to use the pool while you visit if you don't have a room.

I've never had a problem with DD using the playground, as long as they are not acting crazy and being a problem to other kids you might be okay there.

First off, your MIL is at a great resort!

2nd, you'll read alot of pontificating about not being allowed to swim at another resort, and how you should feel guilty to even talk about it.

My take is this. Go, have a good time. Nobody there will bother you or question you. The playground is good for all of your kids, though the pool is not zero entry, so you'll need to be careful with the little ones. The 7 and 5 year old will love the slide.

I don't look at it as pool-hopping. Pool-hopping is just going to a resort to use the pool. You will be guests of a couple staying at the resort, and probably eating there as well.

We had my SIL and her two at WL for a visit when we were there, and had a good time.

I totally understand the pool hopping rule, and would never go to another resort just to use the pool. The problem is, with two families at different resorts, where do you spend downtime together if you're not at the parks? I don't really count Downtown Disney as downtime..

We can't really upgrade, we have to get two rooms since there are six of us, so it would be double the difference between ASMu and CS.

Thanks for the replies. :)

Things I might consider for "downtime" activities at the Coronado Springs: having a meal together, relaxing with a drink (need not be alcoholic) at the bar which is pretty nice, conversing with snacks around a poolside table.

With regards to the pool, bear in mind that each pool at a Disney Resort is posted with signs reading something along the lines of "Pool is reserved for the exclusive use of guests staying at <this place>". With that in mind, the most you might do is to nicely ask the lifeguard if it would be ok, and to be prepared to gracefully accept the very likely reply of "no, I'm sorry". But if it's a slow time of year, and the pool is not very busy, you might just get lucky!

So I called Coronado Springs and explained your situation. I spoke with a CM named Roxanne!

She said that as long as the pool is not at capacity, it would not be a problem. Please enjoy your time with family at Disney World!!

Just FYI: I took my eldest son and GD to WL a few years ago. One day I went downstairs to do laundry while my son took my GD to the pool. Since I had my key, my son left theirs in the room. The lifeguards did a room key check and told everyone that anyone without a key had to leave. My son came into the laundry room and I went outside to show my room key. The lifeguard made the comment that just because I was staying there did not mean they were. I left my son and GD there while I ran upstairs and got their keys. When I came back down, my GD told me I had missed all the excitement. Apparently there was some family there from the campground who had walked over to use the WL pool. The dad got embarrassed that they were being thrown out and got really hostile with the lifeguards, demanding a manager and an apology for embarrassing his family. He said that he was paying big bucks for his Disney vacation and could swim anywhere he dang well pleased. A manager had come out, sided with his life guards and told the family to leave or security would be called, that the WL pool was only for the guests of the WL, not people staying at other WDW resorts. He made the comment that not even guests of the WL could have guests in the pool.

OP: ask the lifeguards as they have the final say, not the front desk and definitely not someone you speak to at a call center, which is what you actually get if you call the CSR number. Expect the answer to be no though, as the CSR main pool is not that big and technically it is not allowed. There are even signs posted at the pool saying this pool is for guests of this resort only.
