Coronado Springs or Caribbean Beach???

We are heading back to Disney in late May and trying to decide between Coronado Springs and Caribbean Beach resorts! We have two young kids (5 & 3). We stayed at Coronado Springs last spring and stayed in a newly renovated room which was fabulous. We had an overall great stay there. The bus service was great- not too far from any of the parks- and not a far walk from our room to the bus stop. We also liked the food at The Pepper Market. This trip is a little longer than last spring and we will have time for a pool day at the resort (we never even saw the bigger pool at CSR). In my research, I saw that Caribbean Beach has a splash area which would be great for my young kids. I also understand that there is construction going on there- how much of an impact does that make? Are they also renovating rooms there? How is the walk to the busses from the rooms and how far of a drive is it to MK?

My overarching question is: Should we go back to Coronado Springs or try Caribbean Beach? What would you do? The price difference is negligible.

I would try CBR, but I would be inclined to stay in a preferred room there as some rooms can be a little more distant. The main pool at CBR is great for younger children, IMO. Also the renovations/construction is pretty much completed now. I think that the Skyliner and the new Riviera resort might be the main items not yet finished? Someone else will know more and chime in, I'm sure.

Some say that the moderate rooms are all the same size. Others maintain that CBR rooms are 340 sq ft compared to 314 sq ft for the others. CBR is the oldest moderate. (Actually, I think it was the original 'value' resort before the All Stars came along) SO, it seems likely that you would get a little bit more space in your room with a stay at CBR.

CSR is an awesome resort as you know and has a great pool. But you have already stayed there, I would be inclined to try somewhere new. And CBR is a great choice with young children.

Either way, you won't go wrong. They are both really nice places to stay.

Good luck choosing!

I would pick Coronado. We were just at cbr and switched to a new resort because the room was so bad. It had a nasty moldy smell and there was construction all over the walkways. I’m not sure how long that construction will stay up but for the rooms alone I would pick csr

Do you know if the rooms are being/have been renovated recently?

Thanks! We’re you in a standard room or preferred? Also, what resort did you move to? Thanks!

I've stayed at both, and would pick CSR with no hesitation at all. Both resorts are large, but CBR is too large. And unless you have a preferred room (which is roughly another $80 a night) you can end far away from both the themed pool and restaurants. At CSR they have an extra pop refill station at the themed pool. I've also found the bus service at CSR to be pretty great.

I agree. We've never stayed at CSR, but we loved CBR. Our stay at CBR was years ago before the renovations and we loved everything about it, so I imagine it's even nicer now. Our boys were 7 & 9 at the time and they loved the pool! I agree with Babsy that since you've already stayed at CSR, I'd try CBR for something new. Hope you have a great trip no matter which you resort you choose :wizard:.

My boys LOVED LOVED LOVED the pool. They literally wanted to be there instead of the parks.

We were inqhat is now Barbados (was Trinidad North). The walk to the main pool (even with kids) was just a few minutes and perfectly pleasant!!

My biggest disappointment was the rooms. They felt old, dark, and dated. I wouldn’t say dirty, but everything was brown, so it wasn’t bright and cheery. The carpet was an odd brown/orange. The lighting wasn’t very bright.

Sooooo when we go back this summer we are trying CSR, based 1) wanting to try a new resort and 2) was hesitant because of the rooms. My hubby looked at the new rooms and was sold.

We were in a king bed room. We started at a room close to the lobby but it was the moldy smelling one. We then were moved over to Aruba and that’s where all of the walkway construction was. We called the front desk and said we would pay to switch resorts. They gave us some choices but we ended up going with pofq because it didn’t cost us extra to move.
