Hi everyone! :wave2: I hope someone can help me.

I currently have a reservation for my DBF and I from Dec.12-18 at Coronado Springs. It's our first time for the holiday season! :santa:

I've been to WDW numerous times and have always stayed at the Contemporary with my family. Unfortunately, I can't afford it this trip.

My TA has been on the lookout for good deals on deluxe resorts for me and she informed me that I can stay at the Y&B for only 400 dollars more.

The majority of my itinerary has me at Epcot or MGM, so do you think I should do the upgrade? My main concern with staying at a CSR was the transporation. Do you think that it will make a BIG difference as far as travel times if I stay at either the Y&B?

And if so, which one should I stay at? I would book a standard room, and would want a full balcony and a king bed.

Any advice would be great! TIA!! :thumbsup2

It will make a HUGE difference. This is a no brainer for me
Upgrade. Do it NOW!!

You can walk to Epcot and MGM from there...and its a nice walk too.

I loved it there, this will probably be my 09 trip choice....

PS I'd pick the Beach Club...just my personal preference...

If you can afford it this is a no brainer by all means go with Y&B club they are fantastic, my favorites and you are right there for EPCOT and MGM and the Boardwalk area, Bus service to other parks it fine but you can always take the Monorail from Epcot to the T&T center and the monorail or ferry to MK as well.

You can't really compare the two. The Y&BC is one of the best deluxe resorts at WDW and CSR is a moderate. If you can swing the price differential, then the obvious choice would be the Y&BC. But if you are on a tight budget, CSR is a fine choice. It is one of the moderates that is well decorated for x-mas.

I LOVE the DIS!!! :disrocks: I KNEW you guys would be able to help me!

Thanks to everyone for their quick replies!!!

The Y&BC is one of the two deluxes I would like to try. Great location but very expensive. That would be my first choice.

But if you decide to keep CSR, here are some CSR x-mas pics to make you feel better!!

Hi Buzz!!

I know! I saw those pictures on your thread and they are GORGEOUS! :cloud9:

I am just worried about transporation times from CSR. I'm used to having the monorail and a rental car which I will have neither this trip.

I was told that I would have to budget an hour to get to any park from CSR.

Do you think that's true?

Thanks for any advice you can give!!

CSR is the most central resort to 3 parks. The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World in part three "Selecting your Hotel" it states that the commuting times to the parks from CSR are: 7:30 to MK; 4:00 to Epcot; 4:45 to MGM; and 4:45 to Animal Kingdom! As a comparison from POR it is 12:00 to MK; 8:00 to Epcot; 12:30 to MGM; and 16:15 to AK. See the map below. So no, you don't need to budget an hour.

Definately choose the YC/BC. If it was me, I would book the BC. My husband and I absolutely loved our recent stay there. It's relaxed, beautiful, and alive with Disney magic. It quickly became our favorite deluxe resort. To be honest, I was actually suprised that I enjoyed the resort so much. I loved being able to walk to Epcot and being just a boat ride to MGM. Even the bus trip to MK wasn't that bad.

If you can afford it, choose one of the Clubs.
It's not just about transportation (though remember that it's not just the time in the bus but the time waiting FOR the bus). You can watch Illuminations from the resort. You can wander over to the Boardwalk. The pool is incredible. Between World Showcase and the resorts, there are a ton of solid restaurants to choose from. There's a much less crowded entrance to EPCOT. You can take a boat to MGM. They sell Gelato in the Beach Club and big sundaes in Beaches and Cream. They'll have a gingerbread carousel in the Beach Club lobby.
It's worth it. My girlfriend and I are staying at the Beach Club at the end of November, and can't wait!

If I remember correctly, not all BC rooms have a full balcony and requests are just that--requests!

All of the YC rooms have a full balcony. That was the deciding factor in our 2003 visit. We're visiting there again this December.

I stayed at CSR in December 2003 and had no problems with the buses. Even with just missing a bus, I don't think it took more than 30 minutes to arrive at any of the parks. :)

DO IT!!!!!!!!! You will not regret it!! IF you are going mostly to Epcot and MGM, then it's a no brainer, you can walk to either from the BC/YC or take the boat. Also, there is the boardwalk if you like nightclubs and such.. it's just a beautiful area.. and believe me, the decorations at the YC/BC won't dissapoint either!!
They have a huge train set up (YC) and usally a gingerbread cookie carousel in the BC.. Just beautiful!

The Y&BC is one of the two deluxes I would like to try.

Apparently you mean that "the Y&BC are two of the three deluxes" you would like to try, as the Yacht Club and the Beach Club are separate resorts. You can't book one and get a room in the other and posters on here repeatedly talk about the differences in the two resorts. They share certain amenities, but they are not one resort!

(Sorry, but this is one of my pet peeves.)

You are correct about my typing but I meant to say I would like to try the BC and Poly. :thumbsup2

From a transportation standpoint...CSR is excellent! It does not share busses with any other resort. Our longest trip from CSR to MK turnstiles was 20 mins. EPCOT, MGM, AK were always less. YC/BC shares busses with the other EPCOT resorts.

I have stayed at the BC, and CSR. Yes, the walk from BC to EPCOT can't be beat. The boat ride from BC to MGM takes about the same amount of time as the bus from CSR. However, I much prefer a boat ride to a bus anyday.

I really like CSR, and look forward to going there again next year. It's a beautiful resort, and the Pepper Market is great! That said, if money is not an issue, for an extra $400 I would be headed to BC.

Thanks everyone for your advice and help!!! I am waiting to hear back from my TA if the price she had quoted me was correct. (Neither of us could believe it when she told me!!)

Then, I'll just have to determine if I can swing the extra money....wouldn't we all just love to have unlimited funds to go to Disney? :cloud9:

why not do both?
I'll be at Pop 4 nights, Coronado 4 nights and BCV 5 nights during my Nov 50th birthday bash
