Have ressies at both April 8 - 16. Traveling with another family who has never been to WDW. Only about $200 price difference ($200 more for Swan).

Any opinions on where you would stay?

I would definitely go for the Swan because of its location in Walt Disney World. The Boardwalk and Yacht & Beach Club are right next door to visit and eat at and Epcot is less than a 10-minute walk away. However, if you should decide to take the boat for fun, that is reachable from your resort. In addition, a walkway to MGM is accesible or can be reached by boat as well. At the Coronado, every place must be reached by car/bus. For the extra $, I think the Swan is worth it because of its proximity to everything in Disney World and making it easier on yourselves. Enjoy your trip, whichever you should decide to stay at!

I've stayed at both the Swan and Coronado Springs...and the Swan wins hands down.

You can't beat the location. If you really want to win the other family over that's never been...the Swan is the way to go!

You can walk to both Epcot or MGM, the Boardwalk is at your back door, and the Grotto Pool is wonderful!

I know there are a lot of Swan fans out there, but my opinon is the Swan is a Sheraton, a corporate hotel. Yes, its near Epcot and MGM, but so are the boardwalk properties, and when I am on vacation, I don't want to be reminded of endless business trips in corporate hotels. I want to relax and enjoy WDW. But that is just me. I wouldn't base a decsion like thios on one or two things, but how many kids are going, ages? THe CSR pool is totally cool, but there can be a lot of adults there due to conventions, the Swan is high rise, adult oriented. Not that there are not kids there, but it is also a convention hotel and it does cater to adults. So you have to weigh all factors. Just think, that $200.00 can pay for admission to a waterpark if it's really hot...

Of these two hotels I have stayed only at the CSR. I would try the Swan before I'd return to CSR.

Coronado. I don't know why anyone would stay at Swan, I had a terrible time there.

Coronado is one of the most underrated resorts in Disney. Swan/Dolphin are two of the most overrated.

Go With Coronado.

I guess it depends on what your priorities are. The Swan has a great location between Epcot and MGM however the theming isn't as nice as CSR nor it is a Disney hotel. The only real drawback I can think of is that the Swan and Dolphin sometimes share buses with the other Epcot resorts which can make them crowded.
I do think the main pool at CSR is nicer than the one at the Swan.

the Swan and Dolphin resorts are deluxe resorts. why go moderate, when u can have deluxe!! it would be worth the xtra $200 to stay at the swan! have fun!

But they arent Disney deluxe.

All I can offer is info on CSR. Check out my website below. Good luck deciding and have a great trip!

I've stayed at almost every place on the property at one time or another, and I find the Swan and Dolphin are both wonderful hotels. They may not have every feature of some of Disney's deluxe hotels, but they are far nicer than any moderate I've ever stayed in. They have great restaurants, character meals, good shops with great sale prices, and a location which no moderate can compete with. While it may be a "corporate" hotel, it has a ton of theming that you wouldn't see at other corporate hotels, and I've had much better customer service from their folks that at many of the Disney guest relations desks I've stopped at. At the end of the night almost every bus is going to be very crowded, it is really nice to be able to take a stroll along the Boardwalk and walk back to your room or hop on a boat.

My on-site experience is limited to All-Star Movies (twice), the Dolphin (4 times), and the Swan (twice). I love the Swan - in spite of it being a Westin hotel! The Heavenly Beds in the newly-renovated rooms at the Swan are to die for! I also love the Epcot location, and the fact that the busses to MK and AK pick up and drop off at the Swan before going to the Dolphin (and sometimes on to the Boardwalk and Yacht/Beach Club resorts). If money isn't too tight, give the Swan a try this time.

I'd go with the Swan. :)

1. If you're getting a double room, CSR will have 2 full size beds while the Swan will have 2 queen beds.

2. CSR means bus rides to everywhere, Swan gets you boat rides or walk to Epcot & MGM, busses to MK & AK.

3. Swan offers more dining selections in the area with the incredibly short walk over to the Boardwalk. CSR on the other hand, does have a food court - that can be a plus.

4. Views from the Swan are very nice.

We've stayed at the ASMo, POR, and the Swan. My kids prefer the Swan and we have never felt as though we were missing anything (i.e. Disney Magic) in the over 25 nights we have spent there.

CSR and any of the Boardwalk area resorts are heavy on the Conventions, so you are likely to run into conventioners at any of them. I understand this may bother some Disney goers, but not us. The way I see it, those conventioners are just counting the minutes til they can shed those suits and hit the parks with us more casually dressed folk. Afterall, they are conventioning at WDW, they know vacationers will be everywhere, why should we vacationers feel uncomfortable around them?

Wherever you decide to stay, I'm sure your trip will be grand. Enjoy!
