My husband and I are planning to visit a moderate resort in October, but can't decide between the Coronado Springs or the Port Orleans Riverside. (We have no children and are in our mid-20's). Has anyone stayed at either and have advise (good or bad) that could help us make a decision? Thanks!!

To me if you are driving, PR-RS. There is a back entrance to MK and a pretty quick way to get to EPCOT and MGM if you know where to go.

If not I hear Coronado's bus system is pretty good. Never stayed because I am DVC member and I always drive, so I stay in the PO-RS or PO-FQ(my favorite moderate) if I end up paying for a room and not using points.

Downtown disney is also easier to get to from PO-RS because to the boats that take you there.

I stayed in both February of this year. Coronado is MUCH better especially if you are going w/out children. Poolside bar is better. Hot tub is better. Mayan Grill is very good. Coronado is CLEANER!!! too. Have fun!

It depends what you are looking for ...

PORS is quiet, peaceful and the grounds are gorgeous! Nightlife is a boat ride away, at DTD. The food court is very good.

CS is a convention hotel, so it might be busy if they are hosting a convention. The food court chgs a gratuity. The main pool is beautiful and for nightlife they offer a bus direct to the BW.

Hmmm, tough call. I actually was stuck between the same two resorts when I went in October 2000. I really wanted to stay at PORS (formerly Dixie Landing) because I liked the theme, but CSR was very appealling aswell. We ended up staying at CSR because PORS was full. I have no regrets, it was beautiful!!!!! The bus service was excellent, the rooms were nice and the grounds are stunning. We would sit outside and eat breakfast by the lake each morning and in October the main pool isn't very busy, so it was great. There was also a huge convention on while we were staying there and it had absolutely no impact on our visit. At that time of year things are pretty quiet, so it was actually nice to see a few extra bodies around.

Well, happy planning!:D

We really enjoyed our stay at Riverside. The grounds are peaceful and beautiful. I didnt think there was anything unclean about it. It is one of my favorites. I havent stayed at CSR so I cant comment on it. The bus service at Riverside was great, the atmosphere, the food court and the landscaping were all very nice. If you like that themeing go for it.

My DH & I have stayed at both. Our vote would be for POR. CS is beautiful, but it was too spread out for us. We hated the food court system as opposed to POR's food court. The food was great at the Pepper Market, but did not like their way of doing things. But everyone has their own opinions!

I have stayed at both many times and they are both wonderful resorts. IF I had to give the edge to one over the other for me it would be CSR. I like the added convenience of having a coffee maker in the room, the bus service to Boardwalk at night and I think the main lake area at night is breathtaking when it is all lit up and you hear the music softly playing. But I do not like to stay in Casitas section at all, too many conventioners. I love the Cabanas section which is not too far from the food court, the main pool or a bus stop. I do not find CSR too spread out at all.
I also love PORS and my favorite room decor there is a mansion room but my favorite outside atmosphere is Alligator Bayou section. I love walking around the quiet paths in Alligator Bayou and feeding the ducks! They have a great lounge with a comedian named Bob that is a riot. Definitely go one night for a good time! Also the boat to DTD is a very nice amenity at this resort.
Either resort you can't go wrong! Enjoy!!

:D

I have not stayed at the POR, but Piglet203 and I just returned from the CSR and we loved it. The theming is great and the resort is so beautiful at night and peaceful in the morning. The Dig Site is awesome, although we didn't get to use the jacuzzi. We stayed in the Ranchos section and we thought that was the best section. There's a lot to do at the resort, such as renting water mouse boats on the lake. As for the POR, we took a boat ride from Downttown Disney to POR and it looked like a great resort. We would love to stay there next year, but we might have to stay at an All-Star Resort due to the need for us to save money for our July 2004 wedding at the Wedding Pavilion!

Either resort should be great, since it's Disney. Check out Buzz2001's Coronado webpage. There's a lot to see there and a lot of great info for you.

Have a great time!

I can't comment on POR but I can say our recent trip to CSR was great! Everything was amazing about the resort. For us, the conventions going on worked to our advantage-food court never crowded, buses were quick and we never had to stand on a full bus, beautiful grounds and clean rooms. I would recommend CSR any day. :)

I stayed at CSR last july, but I haven't stayed at POR, only visited it. I wasn't in love with the POR decorations that much and the boat ride to DTD was unbearably long (maybe cuz I was impatient haha). But I LOVED CSR. We stayed in the Casitas section (I wanted the Cabanas) and it was beautiful! I loved the Pepper Market and I really didn't care about the gratuity because of the atmosphere, the big servings, and the helpfulness of the staff (which is what its for haha). We didn't get to see the pool, but we heard its awesome :) haha

We've stayed at both CSR, cabanas and POR, Alligator Bayou section. We liked CSR better because the room was a little bigger and we liked the Southwestern feel.

We did like the food court at POR better. Pepper Market food was fine, what you would expect for a food court, but we did not like the set up.

You should think about what scenery would make you feel more like you are on vacation. Since we are from the Southeast the Southwestern scenery was a nice change of pace for us.

Interesting to see the different perspectives!

We have stayed at both CSR and PO/R and I enjoyed both. That being said, I give a big thumbs up vote to CSR!!! The bus service was easy, the theming was terrific, the pool area and pool bar were convenient, and the food court was out of this world!

People either love or hate the food court at CSR and we loved it! There was a terrific variety of food (more than at any other resort we have stayed at). And found it to be much easier than the other food courts. The food itself was delicious!

I really think you'll be happy at either one, but I truly loved CSR!

I agree with cookie, make your choice by whatever themeing your in the mood for. Even though I havent stayed at CSR I beleive both are equally nice it just depends on what type of atmosphere you what.
