If you get corian countertops, the corian people come out and
measure the kitchen, and they do the install. Or is there something I'm missing?

So, who has the best prices? Anyone recently get new countertops? Anyone have any details that are important when getting new countertops?

THanks,

My DFIL installs Corian countertops in Texas, and does so as an independent distributor. He sets his own prices and probably discounts more than he should, because "if I charge too much, people won't be able to afford it!" You can also go through home centers, I'd imagine. They do have some beautiful colors, and you can sand it down if you get a scratch in it. They also sell Corian sinks, and you can have them undermounted, which makes it so easy to clean! Good luck with your decision! :goodvibes

I got mine thru homedepot. They use a company in MA to install them in our area. i had priced out some local companie s and Lowes..ended up going w/HD. I measured my countertops so we could get a rough estimate on cost. Then the installers came out and made a template..at that point, I got the exact cost. About 2 weeks later, they came back and installed the countertops. I love them!!! Keep an eye outre if you do go w/a Home Depot or Lowe's type of store. They run specials quite frequently. 10% off, 1/2 or even free corian sinks. I got 10% off, a free corian built in sink and another 10% off because I put it on my HD charge (at no pymts, no interest for 1 year, too). It will be paid off before the year. This was the best deal, we were watching them for a while. I didn't even know about the extra 10% off. The store manager told me about it when they called me back w/the price (after I measured my counters.)

Yes, you have to have an authorized installer do it or else they're not guaranteed. We shopped around a little when we were remodeling our kitchen and opted not to go with Home Depot as a local privately owned company had way more color choices and much better service. Their prices were competitive with HD. I LOVE my countertops! :thumbsup2

Ditto what TimeforMe said. (Plus the private company had the free sink offer too.)

Our house had corian counter tops when we bought it. We decided to move the corian to the basement bar and replace it with granite in the kitchen. We got estimates from HD, Expo and Lowes and we decided to go with a local wholesaler. This place had independent contractors that they referred. Our final cost was 1/3 the other stores!! We love our new counter tops.

Wow...the 2 local dealers that I checked with were over 5,000 (for the same exact countertop..one at HD and Lowes was the one I wanted). And HD I ended up paying under 2,500. I live in the boonies, so I didn't have many choices for "local vendors" One I got tons of referrals on was about 5,800!! I almost fell over when I heard that one.

When I remodeled my kitchen, the designer suggested using Corian veneer because it is considerably less expensive. I did that, and after 10 years have not been sorry.
