So how do you tame the wild cord beast? It seems like everything these days comes with charges or connection cords. Right now there all heaped in a drawer and I have no clue what half of them are for. The ones I use alot awalys seem to end up in the back and the drawer keeps gettings stuck. So Im currious how you all handle cords.

I don't know but behind our entertainment center it looks like that scene in the first Harry Potter movie where everyone gets tangled up in Devil's Snare (if you've seen it, you can imagine). There are cords that don't even go to anything back there!

If you find a solution let me know. Cords and wires all over the house are my biggest pet peeve. They make me CRAZY!

One quick, cheap and easy way to fix the cords run amok: if you have a spindle stack of writeable cd/dvd/whatever, and you have used them all. Cut notches out of the bottom edge of the lid (make sure not to cut where the tabs to lock onto the base are. after doing that, you can coil up your cords and put them on the spindle part of the base. Keep the ends out and then put the lid back on the base, and your cords stay more organized. You can keep it behind your desk/on top of your computer/behind the TV and no one will be the wiser. Let me know how it works out.

For cords not being used - they are kept fairly organized in storage drawers in the garage. For chargers/what-nots that need to be plugged in - we have a surge protector mounted on a wall in the laundry room closet and a shelf for all the charging stations. It's still a mess of cords in there, but at least it's out of sight!

Get an over the door shoe caddy thing (not sure what they are called but they have a bunch of pockets for shoes or there are ones with smaller pockets for little things).

Put labels on the front (iPod charger, Sally's phone charger, Mom's phone charger, etc). Each one has its own little pocket. Now people just need to remember to put them back in the right spot - which seems to be an issue with some in my house. Apparently they all have a reading disability. :rotfl:

I keep them each in individual ziplock bags and I label them. They are all in a cabinet together.

Now that I think of it, I keep everything in ziplock bags we had a pretty bad flood a few years ago, and It was a pain to replace it all. lol. But the Ziplocks work for the phone chargers etc.

I remember reading about this tip in (I think) real simple magazine. its brilliant! I ran right out to target and got one and it works wonderfully.

I keep a pack of colored 1" x 4" stickers handy, and any time we buy a gadget that uses a cord, I write the make/model of the gadget on one side of the label and fold it around the cord, then cover that with a piece of clear packing tape. It makes routing the cords easier, and makes it possible to find the right charging cord when you need it.

I store charger cords in a hanging shoe pocket, but they don't always get put back correctly, so the label helps immensely.

For things that stay plugged in, I route them through plastic gooseneck tubing, split down one side.
