I'll be at the hotel for our after lunch break. What time should I leave Coronado Springs? I will have a car. I'd like to leave the MK boat at 3pm. Don't mind at all if we are just walking thru the park to get to the boat.

Afterwards, planning on taking the boat back to MK.. staying there till 10p then driving back.

If i recall from last time. Driving to the MK - time from getting in car to getting thru the MK gates is about 20 min? Maybe less. (maybe much less.. i forget) So how much time does it take to leisurely stroll from MK entrance to the boat?

Thanks in advance.

Probably about 20-30 mins from parking to tram to monorail to ferry dock. (assume no wait). The dock to Wilderness Lodge/Fort Wilderness is next to the bus depot. Not too far from the security check point. Depends on crowd, you may have to wait a ferry or two to the HDD. It takes about 15-20 to get to Fort Wilderness even if you don't have to wait for a ferry. (there is a stop at Wilderness Lodge) If you like to make sure you get on the ferry around 3pm, you should be on line 20 mins prior.

I like to suggest that you drive to HHD after your lunch break. You need to park the car at Wilderness Lodge Parking Lot then take the internal bus to DDH. I think it is faster than driving to TTC then MK. After the show, you can take the ferry to MK. After MK, take the ferry to Wilderness Lodge to pick up your car.

I took the ferry to the 6:30 show from MK last August. It was a not a pleasant experience. The ferry was very crowded with no ventilation. I had a heat stroke and didn't enjoy my favorite show as much as I did previously. Of course, it can be different for everyone. Hope you find the best travel route for you and your family.

Either way I'm taking the ferry..you are just saying its cooler at night..what time does the ferry stop running?

Also why are you saying monorail is involved? I just park at Mk and get right on the ferry right?

To take the boat to Fort Wilderness, you must take transportation from the TTC (where you park for MK) to the MK entrance. This can be monorail or ferry.

Once there, you switch to a launch to get to Fort Wilderness.

If you choose to drive, please note that the prior poster said park at Wilderness Lodge parking lot, that is wrong. You will be going to Fort Wilderness, not the Wilderness Lodge.

As for the monorail, you park at the TTC then you have to take the monorail or the ferry to MK, then you get the boat to Ft Wilderness.

It is not 20 minutes from your hotel to the MK gates driving as you said though. Likely 20 minutes to drive to TTC, then add to that: leave car, get tram, take monorail or ferry, walk to boat dock outside MK. doing this approach, I would leave my hotel at least an hour before I wanted to arrive at Hoop. I'm conservative, so I'm sure I would be pushing my family out the door 90 minutes before.

All that said, we really like the boat from MK to ft. Wilderness.

HDDR is not at the Wilderness Lodge. You go to the entrance of the Ft. Wilderness Campground where the campers check in, park and get the internal bus from there.

After you park you have a choice of taking the monorail OR the ferry over to the Magic Kingdom.

Or I would take a bus from your resort to the Magic Kingdom bypassing the ferry and monorail.

-------------------

You will not go through the MK gates if you are coming from your hotel and heading to Ft. Wilderness. Buses, monorail, ferry boats, hotel boats are all outside the MK before you go through security bag check.

We left POP by bus to MK rather quickly. Walked over to Ft Wilderness boat. Waited a good 20 minutes. They filled that big boat up and that took about another 15 minutes. We went to Wilderness Lodge, then we had to hold in the lake before pulling in to camp ground. I was getting really nervous. They aren't joking when they say allow 1.5 hours to go from resort to resort if you are not driving direct. Luckily we left early and it took a little more than that. You are going to have to add a little more time for travel between MK parking lot especially if you have a tram ride.

So there is no Mk parking...you have to get there via monorail. I must have forgotten about that.

One thing to keep in mind, parking at FW is at the front and you take an internal bus to Pioneer Hall. (Well, to the bus stop nearest it.)

Parking at either TTC or FW will require extra transport at the end of your evening.

So some options:

Park at TTC, monorail or ferry to MK, launch to FW and then reverse.

Park at FW, internal bus to Pioneer Hall bus stop, (show), launch to MK, and then reverse OR just hop on a bus to FW. (I think they let off at the front of FW by the parking lot.)

Personally, I would park at TTC. Get the long commute done early in the day verses at the end of the night.

So if I drive to the hoop Dee do. Park and take the internal bus ... How time am I taking..

Seems going TTC to Mk to ferry is going to take an hour.

What if we took a bus from resort to Mk to ferry? I never take the busses thinking my car will get me places faster..maybe in this situation I'm wrong? I just picture end of the night bus back to resort taking forever.

Once a bus arrives, you should be at Pioneer Hall within 15 minutes. I would recommend being at the parking lot about 30 minutes prior to when you wish to be at Pioneer Hall.

Take a launch to a MK if you like...

At the end of the night, just hop on a FW bus to take you back to the parking lot.

This may be the most efficient way to do things and still allow you to enjoy the boat ride.

Can't speak to the bus ride back--

But I am not certain it would be any more efficient on the front end. But it may be more efficient on the back end.

Car is typically not recommended to MK due to the need for transportation from TTC to MK.

But hashing this out:

Bus to MK, launch to FW. Still allow 90 minutes.
Reverse it gets broken up--but more like an hour since you allow half hour or so for launch and then half hour or so for bus, not including any lengthy waits.

off topic question then. do the monorails from ttc start operating an hour before the parks open?

Edit: Since nobody cares about the buses back to the resorts, I'll drop that issue.

Here's a wide look at the important areas of Ft. Wilderness.

I have to say that there is a lot of incorrect, confusing, misleading, and incomplete info in this thread.

At the risk of just going deeper down the rabbit hole...

AFTER the Hoop, there will be buses at the Pioneer Hall (Hoop Theater) bus stop.
(actually called "Settlement Stop") that will take guests directly back to their respective resorts
with no need to go back to MK.

OP says they want to go in to the MK after their dinner. They are going to the 4 pm one.

No one was misleading anyone. OP specifically desires to return to the a Magic Kingdom for the rest of his evening. He stated that in his original post.
