Could you please explain to me how to do this on our own?? Should we use Disney or do it ourselves?
Thanks

Many, many years ago I used to do this on my own. We would get a cab from the ship to coral world pay the entrance fee and the beach was right next door to coral world. Back then it was very inexpensive...compared to what they charge onboard. The cab ride then was only about $4 per person each way.

Last year DH, myself, DS 10 and DD 8 did this just fine on our own. Upon leaving the ship we easily had a taxi. We went to (Coral World first and used the discount coupon from their website (don't know if one is still available or not). We also immediately rented a locker - stored a bunch of our stuff in the locker and then enjoyed Coral World. We brought a sack lunch from the ship (actually, the lunch was from the previous evening's deck buffet at the deck party). After lunch we retrieved our beach stuff from the locker and went down the steps to Coki Beach (very close - less than 1 minute walk). Coki was crowded, but we found a bit of sand. We snorkeled, swam, and then returned to Coral World and used their showers - rinsed off and put on clothes from our locker. The taxi returned to pick us up - and there are numerous other taxis available at the beach and Coral World too - don't worry. We enjoyed having the extra time and were not hurried in the least. The only sad part was having to leave to go back to the ship! Definitely a do-able excursion on your own.

And the coupon is still available - click here to go directly to coral world discount coupon

There's an arranged tour that takes you to both the highest point on the island which has a dedicated place to really stop and enjoy the views, and Coral World. It is definitely worth it. You can arrange it thru Disney Cruise Line. And it wasn't much over the regular cost of admission to CW. And the beach is still nice, free and next to CW, and they give you enough time on the tour to spend it at both.

I did the Coral World, Coki Beach trip on my own with my two teens. They loved the beach, and we rented lounges and spent a good part of the afternoon out there. Very pretty and a great place for kids, too. :)

If you e-mail Coral world from their webpage and tell them you will be going on certain day.... they will send you a brochure and map of their facilities.

I scanned the ones they mailed me.. you can find them here http://www.ashkins.net/cruise

thats one of the things that makes me want to go there even more. :)

DH 47, Me 38 and DS 12 did Coral World and the beach on our own. First we went to Coral World then on to the adjacent Coki Beach. It was really easy to keep our eyes on our things that we left at a picnic table at the beach and had no problems at all while there. Coral World is so "user friendly". After the beach we went back there and showered in their clean retrooms, got our things out of our locker and had a great lunch at their outdoor restaurant. We had a pre-arranged time to be picked up by our taxi driver and she was there on time. The price was pre-arranged as well. She was great and gave us so much info during the drive, she loved my son and when he started looking wiped out after the full day she pulled a bottle of spring water out of her cooler for him to drink on the drive back to the boat and started telling him about her family. We're not too excited about organized activities so we really enjoyed doing coral World and Coki Beach this way.

Just like kendall said it is very easy > I was alone so i liked that after i shot Video i could lock up my camera and snorkle with out worrying about my camera on the beach . You get a wrist band and can go in and out of coral world all you want . The locker is like $3.00 plus a $10.00 key deposit you get back at end of day . Also my taxi driver gave me discount coupon to Coral world for the same amout you get off the web site but thru the window I saw ones for $4.00 off also depending on what cab you get . Have fun .

Thank you so much everyone...we are going to do it on our own. The kids will love it, we leave on Friday:pinkbounc :bounce: :pinkbounc :bounce:

Another possibility........last year I took my 10 year old son to Coki Beach Dive Club for a "resort course" scuba lesson. You can easily set this up with Pete or Laura ahead of time, they will pick you up for free on the dock, take you there, and it is GREAT! We dove for about 1/2 hour, fed the fish, and afterwards spent a few hours on the beach. Then you just take a taxi back whenever you are ready. Adds a bit of adventure to the stay!

I am wondering how much eveyrone paid for their taxi ride to Coral world... say a family of 5??

The fare is typically $7/pp each way, but you would do well to verify this with the driver before you get in his taxi.
