Coral Reef

The food is good but the customer service is awful. We had an overall negative experience. We had an ADR (DDP), waited 45 minutes, and the seater gave 2 different parties of 4 (the same size as ours) with ADR times AFTER ours tables before us because those people gave them some $$. When I complained to the manager about this, he basically told me to either sit down and wait until we were called and stop bothering him or cancel our ADR. I wrote a letter to WDW after this, and they did offer a profuse apology and said this was definitely not typical behavior. Still, it left a bad impression on us. We won't go back. BTW: This was in December 2008.

WOW! That does not sound like Disney at all!

Along with Le Cellier this is our other must do restaurant. Me and DW always get the NY Strip Steak and this has always been really good.
It seems like the steak wins there! everyone has basically mentioned thats so far! I have heard great things about Le Cellier, but it is so hard to even get a reservation there!!!:thumbsup2

Thank you all for your replys!!! You guys gave great input and i have a lot to consider! I think I am going to try it though:)

After one good meal followed by an absolutley horrible experience at Le Cellier with 3 excellent experiences at CR (with excellent food AND service) - CR has become one of our Epcot must-do's (with Le Cellier on our never-do-again list)

We loved coral reef! I had the steak and it was as good as everyone says. Boyfriend had the seared chicken. It was so good we now make a copykat version at home.

We went there in 11/08. It was a decent meal. The view is the main draw here. The only bad thing is that we were seated 45 minutes past our ADR time. Our waiter was named Alejandro. He was our favorite waiter of the trip.

I'm with you, I had an absolutely horrible experience at Le'Cellier as well; But I'll give it one more try, someday..... As for Coral Reef; I agree with you as well, it is a must do everytime we are back home in Disney. I love the place!!!!

Thanks for the input! I do want to still try LC though, even with the not so great input! b ut your input is making me more excited to try CR! I just know i should expect a wait! ::MinnieMo

DH & I ate there last trip and really enjoyed it. We had an early dinner reservation and got right in. We had a nice table on the second tier in the center. The view of the fishtank was great! DH loved his filet and I really enjoyed my lasagna. The portions were decent sized and allowed us to to really enjoy the Chocolate Wave after.

Personally, we have been there 4 or 5 times. The food is good, not great but it is worth going to for the atmosphere and scenery.

We were there November 2009 for lunch. We waited a little bit. They were calling for a certain family who wasn't there. They asked us if we were them and I said "We can be if you want us to be". After a little more waiting they gave us that's family's spot. Well that family was celebrating an anniversary and had a table close to the aquarium. The host/ess said we got a better table since those people didn't show up.

I don't know if steak is offered at lunch- I think we were trying to save money as this one was OOP, so DD and I ordered the chicken caesar salad. We didn't like it- but we've never had caesar salad before, so maybe we just don't like it regardless. DH liked his fish (Mahi Mahi maybe?) The Chocolate Wave was excellent! We probably won't go back though. It was alright to do once.

from what i can gather from replies so far, it sounds like this is at the very least, worth a shot. i had read mixed reviews but this thread makes me feel better! looking forward to it - only a month away! :thumbsup2

We're eating there for dinner next Thursday, 4/1. We're looking forward to trying it. At the very least, my Mother-in-law will be excited to choose between the chocolate wave and creme brulee! :)

you must be mistaken, they would lose their jobs over something like this.

How was your visit???

It has been a few years, the atmosphere was good but the service and food were not great.

We went the week of Labor day in 06....the food was decent, the service was SLOW... We skipped it on our trip on 08, but have it booked for our trip this year.....figure it was worth another shot!

We were there in February and LOVED IT! It was DS's b-day. We arrived for our 6:30 pm and requested a table by the tank, which we were very quickly seated at. DS had steak and DH & I both had grouper which was absolutely wonderful. I had the butterscotch creme brulee, which was really good, but DH had the chocolate mousse which was amazing! :lovestruc

Great food + great service + great atmosphere = great time
