Coral Reef

We ate there in Sept and it turned out to be one of our favorite meals. My 3 yr old really enjoyed the atmosphere too, it kept him occuplied the whole meal. I did try the chocolate wave and it was heavenly!

Glad to see all the positive replies!
I was debating canceling my ADR for my upcoming trip- did anyone here try the mahi mahi? i love mahi mahi but havent read anything good about it (i know you can't base everything off of the reviews on here)

I think this one might stay now! :goodvibes

The Chocolate Wave is a warm chocolate cake with a vanilla sauce in the centre.

Hi
In post 11, I posted that the Mahi Mahi is delicious. I've had it twice and I can't wait to have it again in August. It has a glaze on it and it's just delicious. My DH usually gets steak, but I told him how good the Mahi Mahi is, and he ordered it, and loved it too. I really am not a fish eater, and I don't eat any meat, but the Mahi Mahi doesn't taste fishy at all. You wouldn't even know your're eating fish. Have fun!!

Thanks so much disnut1149!
mahi mahi it is! coral reef was my hardest reservation to get so i think there must be a reason why! ill have to find out for myself and report back!

I thought the Mahi Mahi was delicious last Sept. but felt guilty sitting at a seat right next to the acquarium having all the fish watch what I was eating. This year I will get the steak, my DW said one of the best she had eaten at Disney.

I REALLY wanted to try this restaurant but passed on it because I don't like seafood. Does anyone know if there's an entree on the menu that doesn't include seafood? (for my kids too??) Thanks! :thumbsup2

helloooooooo.....anyone???? I want to call TODAY & change my ADR (if possible) if they have other entree's besides seafood that I'll like. (I posted a thread about Whispering Canyon & if Coral Reef serves food I like then I'm going to switch) My God---I can't even make a food decision on my own...:confused3 ;)

I had the Mahi Mahi and it was very good. DH and DM had the talapia, which is raised right there. It was also good, but I like a meatier fish.

I know they have a steak, a pork cho, a chicken breast, and a meatless option (I think it's pasta). You might want to check out the menu's at allearsnet.com

I'm so glad to read such good things about the CR. We are going there on DH's birthday (mine too but I'm making a big deal for his 30th). :) It's one of the things I'm looking forward to the most on our trip!

Wife and I went to CR in October. We had heard that it wasn't all that great, but we were pleasantly surprised. We had a Bailey's chocolate mousse for dessert that was definitely worth the trip. The ambience is also fun, but the restaurant is a little crowded with tables. If you're not at one of the big booths, it can be closer quarters with other diners than you might be used to at a table service place.

It's one of our favorites. We've never had a bad meal, sometimes service is hit or miss, but our food has always been great. We love the atmosphere.

We've eaten there several times over the years, and none of us eat any seafood at all, so don't let that keep you away.

The food has always been good, but every time we've walked away feeling that the food is a bit overpriced, compared to similar quality meals at WDW. Especially since the service is pretty poor for the prices.

That said, we keep going there every other trip or so, and not just for the view, either.

I had the pumpkin rissoto last time, and it was excellent.

I would skip the lobster salad and soup at CR. The salad was finely shredded lobster with a lot of mayo...yuck and the soup was bland. Go to Chef de France for Lobster bisque...YUM

I liked the atmosphere though and will give it another try:)

Oh it is lovely and very romantic  in the latter part of the evening when it is less crowded.

My dd and dh and parents really enjoyed the meal....the ambiance....and decor.:yay:

We were there in September 07 and will be returning for TWO meals in Sept. 08.

When you arrive for your ADR ask for a table near the aquarium....the view is spectacular. :thumbsup2

I hope you enjoy!
