I was thinking about trying to eat here. We are doing the deluxe and thought it might be cool for the kids with the fish and all. The problem is, we don't love seafood. I will eat fish, but that's about it. So can anyone recommend it for the non-seafood crowd? Also does it smell like seafood inside. Weird question I know, but my husband has a finicky nose. Thanks.

I sent the most "white bread, vanillia ice cream " eating family in the world there and they said it was the best meal of their lives!! They all had the steak, lol!

I loathe any seafood beyond shrimp, and I'm even picky about that. We ate at Coral Reef in September, and found more than few non-seafood options. I have to recommend the NY strip. Everyone in my party had it, and everyone absolutely LOVED it! Besides that, I believe there are three other non-seafood dishes as well, but the NY strip was indeed fabulous. I would say check out the allears menu to see for yourself.

I can't really take a fishy smell either, so I was glad that CR in no way smells fishy. In fact, I think it smells pretty.

my DH had steak there in october and loved it!

so yes - non fish eaters can eat and be happy there, too!

In August I had one of the best pieces of steak I have had in WDW at Coral Reef. Even my incredibly picky dd, 14, found something she could happily eat. We enjoyed our beef, while dh completely relished his seafood. I can't think why we hadn't gone there before!!

Hi:

Three out of our group of seven had their Strip Steak in December 2007. All three of us enjoyed it. My brother actually thought it was better than the Filet at LeCellier. I'm not sure I would go that far... but it was darn good.

Have a Great Trip,

Mark

We are planning to eat here in November and only one person in our party is a real seafood lover. The rest of us will have the steak we've heard so many people rave about. We're going purely for the atmosphere :goodvibes

I love the Coral Reef. Went there last trip with 4 other adults and not all of us ordered seafood. I actually got the Pumpkin Risotto, and it was the best dish of my whole trip, hands down. The food is really excellent here, and the atmosphere is great. DS just loves it, and so do I! :thumbsup2

I love seafood but chose the NY strip when I was there and I loved it! The potatoes au gratin that came with it were also very good and that chocolate cake WOW! The view is also worth going for..Only drawback it was LOUD and very crowded, while our food was out in a timely matter it took forever to get refills on drinks and our check but it was b/c it was so crowded

I actually got the Pumpkin Risotto, and it was the best dish of my whole trip, hands down.

Have you noticed it's not on the menu anymore? I was looking forward to that, for whenever our trip is...

OP, I would actually be quite grossed out to eat fish "in" an aquarium. If I ate fish (often).

:upsidedow

I would definately still suggest it, as there are a couple of selections that don't involve seafood and they are very good!

Wow, glad to hear so many positive reviews. I think we will keep our adr. Thanks for all the responses.:)

definately keep your CR ressie :thumbsup2
i hate seafood (they have an excellent steak, & the chocolate wave is absolutely the best dessert in WDW:cloud9: ), yet selected CR for our 25th anniversary dinner ~ it is just that good!!
enjoy!

I agree with PPs.

The steak there was excellent, and yes, even though I am Canadian, I admit, it was better than Le Cellier!!

The desserts were great too, and the ambience was great.

We would definitely go there again, even the kids loved it!

And no, it does not smell fishy!

Another good non-fish item is the pork chop. DW said it was the best she had ever had.

We were thinking of the Yachtman Steakhouse for our 25th anniversary dinner. Maybe we can switch to Coral Reef. I like steak and DH likes sea food.
Thanks for the reviews :goodvibes

We ate there this past Sept. I am not a big fan of seafood at all. I got the strip steak w/au gratin potatoes & it was excellent. We really enjoyed our meal there: the food was good, the service was good & the atmosphere there was great. We already have the ADR for our upcoming trip & are looking forward to it. I would definitely recommend you keep your ADR - I don't think you'll be disappointed.
